After reading some of the replies in the "#lin2houston" thread and seeing the racist thread about where Morey will take Lin out to lunch, I felt the need to post about how we need to be better fans. When free agents see racist comments and comments putting them down, no one will want to play in Houston. Just because you don't like a player doesn't mean you have to send hate messages to them, be civil. There was recently a thread about "The blame game" and who is at fault for the Rockets failure. At first I didn't think fans were a problem at all, but now that I think about it they are. Our arena is one of the lowest in attendance. We do have some great fans of course but the bad ones seem to speak the loudest. If people continue to send hate to players it will get around the league that Houston is not a desirable place to play in. We need to have confidence in the organization we support. It seems like no matter what we do some people will be angry. Morey has been doing as good as he can. It takes two teams to complete a deal, so you can not blame him for everything. Right now we are having some tough times with our team but we just need to remember we are all under Red Nation and we are in this together. We aren't Utah, we aren't Dallas, we're Houston. We're above teams like that and we need to start acting like it.
I don't have a twitter account so can someone share some of the negative things that were said please?
http://bbs.clutchfans.net/showthread.php?t=222473&tw_p=twt just read that thread. some of the people that sent stuff wrote what they said
as fans we should all be supportive no matter what. we can be 0-82 and i'll still be a supportive rockets fan.
Say what you will about Jeremy Lin as a PLAYER, but as a HUMAN BEING, he is an absolute class act--a very humble man. He deserves much better fans than this. ScolaIsBallin, I would rep you if I could.
Another reason why outside people $hit on this city...uneducated middle school trolls...Houston fans are extremely fair weather...
Agreed with the OP. I sometimes wonder how many of these Rockets "fans" are just trolls and couldn't care less about the Rockets.
Not to take a shot at Clutch and the mods, but its was surprising to see blatantly racist threads and comments just go completely unanswered. Racist jokes do have a dark twisted style of humor but what happened in the GARM was overboard. Jeremy Lin was supposed to break the Asians playing basketball racial barrier, but that never happened. People became even more vile towards him.
Completely agree with you, OP. Getting sick of it. I may not have been a fan as long as some of these folks, having come in during Yao's tenure, but I am completely loyal to Red Nation.
I'm embarassed those things were posted, and in general, the board has been ridiculously negative lately. I just have a few points to make: 1) Stop wasting my time. I enjoy reading the BBS, but I just have to stop because of the amount of time needed to sift through the garbage. If you have an opinion about management, drop the sarcasm and bitterness and write it in a thread where it is on-topic. 2) Stop bickering. Is it possible that 50% of the threads on the BBS are actually about YOU, but in basketball disguise? I recently saw one thread that had about six solid pages of off-topic bickering. 3) Some people need to be temporarily banned for their complete disregard of everyone on the site. If you can't generate a coherent thought, stop typing. 4) Last but not least. Have some f***ing sense, and go delete or edit your own racist posts. If you're thinking about defending yourself because the world is too PC and you're a victim, that means you're an a**hole.
A couple more years of the same team missing the playoffs.. then we will be more like utah and dallas...
+1 +1 its been angering me to see these posters with so much negativity. Apart of me thinks they should be closely looked at and banned if excessive.
