We essentially paid $8m for those two prospects; I get it. It's still win. For a rebuilding team prospects are worth way more than the sunk cost of a contract. What else were they going to spend the $8m on? the draft? Can't do that anymore the international market? Can't do that anymore free agents? no point Carlos Lee? har har.
That's right. IIRC, the game ended when UCLA's second baseman bobbled a pretty routine chopper, allowing a run to score.
Imagine what we can get for lowrie, if we do trade him, and Wandy, wow I can't wait till the deadline
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal Source: #Marlins were not on Lee's limited no-trade list. In other words, his approval was NOT needed for the trade. #Astros
some conflicting reports...espn reported that Lee agreed to go to the marlins, but sun sentinel dude says they weren't on his no-trade list
yeah, your reports are more up-to-date than the espn news from when the trade broke. and yes, all that matters is that he is gone, and that we got a couple nice prospects for him.
YES!! Matt Dominguez for C.Lee seems like robbery. Plus Rasmussen? Astros just got the Marlins 2nd and 9th best prospects (according to MLB.com) FOR CARLOS FREAKING LEE!!!!!!!!
Bigtexxx is right, but the big reason not to promote Singleton now is because he's playing terribly. Nope. That honor goes to Wandy. He's the only player left to have played on the 2005 WS team. Lee signed in the off-season after the world series. By the way, is anyone else stunned Wandy freaking Rodriguez lasted 7 years? His development has been extraordinary. First he was prone to the huge inning (like Happ). Then he underwent what I called his "crappy magician" period where he would get himself in trouble but get out relatively unscatched. Then he went and made himself just a damn good pitcher. What happened? I'll be sad to see him go.
Wandy was honestly one of the worst pitchers ive ever seen, the fact he has become so...above average to good...has been an absolute shocker. I guess you can never write off a player in baseball
