I need to buy a new video card for a computer of mine. I was wondering if this might be a decent enough one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...yMark=False&IsFeedbackTab=true#scrollFullInfo

i want to spend 60-70 bucks, nothing to fancy, but decent enough to play a few games, mainly SC2 and maybe diablo 3

specs of computer are: 4 GB ram, vista 64bit, 3GHz processor

will this video card be fine enough? the reviews seem to like it

    thanks for any feedback

Depending on what kind or processor you have running at 3ghz that is a pretty good deal.If it's a Pentium 4 I'd say forget it and wait until you can upgrade mb/cpu/video. If it's an I3/5/7, it's as good as it gets for the $.

Spend a bit more and everything becomes playable at fairly high settings with http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127687

Again, depending on what cpu you have.

3ghz processor is actually horrible if its a single/duo core.. duo core is like minimum processor for speed for sc2/d3 so it'll run pretty horribly.

I personally do not like ATI cards, they seem to use a lot more power than Nvidia, but they are not bad cards.

More precise specs are needed.. I have a 3.7 ghz processor but it is 8 core and runs everything on max :p

Should work with Pacman, Sonic or Doom I. I'm jealous, the games must look crazy, my pc can barely handle Pong.

Honestly you should just buy a new computer then, those games will run pretty poorly and your video card (which is good for the price and a decent card itself) will be bottle necked by the rest of your computer's specs.

Should work then. Look into your system in the menu to verify, still would be good to know what cpu it really is(Intel Ix or AMD)

    ^^
He would only be able to play on medium or worse, that's correct. He has to decide how much money he wants to spend.

really? i know SC2 ran just fine for awhile with that computer, my vid card screwed up and i havent touched the computer since. also its not a sure thing i'll get diablo 3, was thinking about it. but pretty sure everything is just fine with this comp besides the vid card which caused my monitor to be scrambled/jumbled. so if anything getting a somewhat decent card in it i can use it again.

Well you wouldn't be getting anywhere near the max potential out of the card, you could probably use an even cheaper one with the same results, your choice though. :p

The card you selected is ~the best bang/buck you can get. The one I listed previously a fair bit better but more $

If you're using a nice 24" monitor and have a quad core cpu (as long as it's not first gen Phenom) you'll appreciate the faster card. The 6670 will still do fine if you don't want the faster 7770.

You don't have to upgrade other parts.

If you ran the game previously fine with your old card, it should be just fine. Just the card is overkill for your system and you will not see its full potential, all I am saying. The only thing you may need to look at is the power consumption of the card and your current power supply - newer cards consume much more power. You could easily kill your power supply if its a really old one.
