Unfortunately, Les is looking more like Drayton with each passing day. Instead of the quick decline and rebuild that a team like OKC did (or now that New Orleans are doing), we're facing the most agonizing decline into the high lottery as imaginable. Watching the Rockets is like watching that scene in Saving Private Ryan where the knife goes ever so slowly into his chest. Just put us out of our misery already.
We had to withdraw Courtney Lee's qualifying offer in order to have enough cap space to sign Omer Asik. The Rockets didn't have a choice about it. I believe they can still retain him in free agency, but they'd have to go over the cap with and use one of the exceptions (mid-level, etc.) to sign him.
When expectations meet reality = disappointment. I think everyone had expectations that were way too high. Primarily due to media hype. Sure the Rockets were trying to make some big moves and probably still are. But the simple fact of the matter is, building a champion takes alot of time and alot of luck.
All we need is a good slumpbuster!!! I'm starting to lose hope... But that's the NBA there are cycles, im finding it hard to even get mad because are lack of appeal has become laughable, I mean players would rather play for the Clippers!
Building an NBA playoff contending team is not like a 30 minute sitcom where everything plays out and gets resolved in 30 minutes. When Yao, McGrady, Artest, Battier failed, we were left with a bunch of role players. It takes time to rebuild. It often takes being bad a few years and drafting high up in lottery to rebuild. Finally this year I think we have 3 rooks to build around, with a young Parsons, Morris, and hopefully a young Asik and Lin. Get with the program. Its just part of the cycle. We are not headed to the playoffs next year, so we will purge most of the older guys. Have fun with the development of the young guns.
Best case scenario after everything that's gone down so far? We sign Jeremy Lin, people are excited, don't care about our record, fill out the seats. Les is happy, gives Morey carte blanche to order McHale to tank and lose as many games as possible while giving max playing to Jeremy Lin (who will score 25ppg) and our rookies/second year players. We play a lot of Don Nelson Ball--i.e. clone wars surrounding a PG. For Golden State it was Baron Davis, for us it's Lin being surrounded by Patterson (6'9), Parsons (6'9), Jones (6'9), and White (6'9) with Morris and Lamb coming off the bench. Asik grunts and hits fools in the junk during rebounding situations. And that's that. David Stern dies of a massive triple coronary hemorrhage right after the all-star break, the first legitimate lottery system is held, and sure enough the Rockets get a top 3 pick like we deserve. Everyone lives happily ever after.
Perfect thread to just act crazy! How about a starting five of.... (wait for it) Asik D-Mo Parsons Lin Dragic I feel sick now!
If we dump Lowery Scola and Martin for draft picks, I'd say its a pretty good off-season. I'll be looking forward to watching Lamb, Parsons, white and D-Mo develop next year.
thats the sad part, what happed to morey saying we have TONS of cap space. We are almost capped with a bunch of role players signed how can that be??
Les's MO had always been about chasing the big name. Now he's behind every 8th pick for Shane Battier type of move?
This is exactly why some guy had to ask if Daryl Morey is a racist... I know he's not but that lineup is just stupid
I still can't help but think there is going to be a trade or two (hopefully to build for the future). Houston can just not go into next season with the roster at it is constructed.
