That's terrible. Bargnani's contract is worse than Scola's except we can't amnesty Andrea. Then we add in Lowry? Wow. Raptors aren't a good trading partner.
I would think Ross would be untouchable so I would try Lowry for Solomon Alabi, Jarryd Bayless and picks. However if we could swing a Scola, Lowry for Bargnani, and Bayless I would jump on that
Bargani is 26 y/o 7 footer averaging 20 points a game with a 9 mill per year contract for the next 3 years, its not a bad contract.
Clutchfans would go ballistic if the team traded Scola and Lowry for a future protected first. People would be outside Toyota Center with torches and pitchforks. I can understand that it could potentially make sense in terms of future flexability but I am damn sure you won't be able to convince 99% of the fans of that fact, considering som of the other trades being proposed with those two involved.
Bargnani is one of the worst defenders and rebounders in the league for his position. Actually, he's one of the worst of all time. This is what happens when you don't watch teams other than the Rockets. Bargnani isn't good.
I don't think they would take Charlie either. But a small one year or two year deal like Rip Hamilton they might. I was thinking more in line of Chicago matching Asik and making Noah available to us. We trade them a sign and trade Lee along with one or two of our youngsters and Leur and they send out Hamilton to Toronto who needs shooters. Chicago saves Almost $8 Mil for this year to fill other needs or keep Korver who they want. Also saves them almost $4 Mil long term by moving Noah. Toronto takes on a one year contract for a shooter they need, move Derozen to the 3. They also get Lowry at a cheaper long term price than signing Goran for 4 years at $10 Mil per.
i really hope this is the rockets master plan: 1 dragic / lin 2 lee / lamb dragic can play backup 2 and lee can play backup 3 also. in order to sign everyone they will need to salary dump martin. i am thinking maybe dallas would be interested because they lost terry. lowry traded to raptors. if lee has a secret promise to return to houston, then why not dragic also?
his job wouldn't be to rebound, his job would be to score. I know who he is and what he does, i'd still take that deal i proposed. PF isn't center, you don't need to exactly be a paint protector.
They should just go after Dragic and pay him his 10 million. You don't lose anything then. Nothing on Toronto's roster worth pursuing, that they'll give up. The time to trade Lowry to Toronto was last week at the draft for #8. Whoops!
Bargnani Is a 7 ft that puts up 20 a night and can shoot 3's. Which means he gets that paint clogging defenders that block shots and gather all the rebounds out of the paint and allow open space to drive the basket. If we could grab Bargnani in a lowry deal we should jump on it. Asik is for rebounds Bargnani would be for points.
We did offer that and they declined so they could pursue Nash. Looks like they made a mistake if reports are true that Nash is close to signing with NY.
It would be smart to trade Lowry for an unprotected 1st rounder but lets get real that isn't happening. Other than that, I don't believe they make a good trading partner. Derozan is intriguing but I figure he's probably untouchable right now.
the raptors beat writer says the best case scenario for the raptors is that rockets and dragic bridge their gap and put lowry back on the market because he is 1/2 as cheap and doesn't have as big a track record and isn't defender or rebounder Lowry is. i agree with him that lowry would be better for toronto considering their team needs leadership. see, this is why the rockets didn't do a deal with dragic yet. so they can squeeze more out of toronto in a trade for lowry. if they signed dragic that drops the value of lowry. https://twitter.com/#!/WolstatSun
A Lowry deal only makes sense if - A. Dwight has already been traded, B. Dragic is coming back to Houston, or C. Lin is signed to come to Houston, and they realistically believe he is ready to be a full time starter in the league. Lowry is most likely the main nugget that Orlando wants to obtain from Houston in a deal for Dwight. More than likely thats the main reason why Morey hasn't dealt him already. If Lowry is traded and Dragic/Houston cannot work out a deal it leaves Houston in a situation where they had two very good PG's that could very well make the all-star team next season last season, and now they have nothing. The Rockets need to make sure that they are able to retain at least one of them. Lowry is a safe bet to stay in Houston now since Dragic/Houston seem to be very far apart on a deal. The Lin situation feels more like a formality, insurance policy, and leverage in the Dragic negotiation than anything. There is no question that they would rather go into the season with Lowry or Dragic than Lin alone. There is no question that he is an inferior PG to the other two even if he is still a more than capable PG. If the Rockets are going to let Dragic walk, trade Lowry, and sign Lin, then they better be getting back a haul for Lowry. More than likely all that Toronto can offer is future draft picks. Unless those picks are lottery unprotected, or only top 3 protected then Houston should just keep Lowry going forward, and make Mchale/Lowry work it out like professionals. Which is what I anticipate happening very easily when he gets his starting job back.
Give them Lowry and Scola for Calderon and a future 1st. Calderon is expiring so we could trade him again in February
Why wouldn't that happen? if we were to say ship lowry and scola off for 2 unprotected first rounders, we'd be getting mid first rounders and cap relief. Lowry / Calderon Derozan / Fields Ross / Kleiza Scola / Bargnani / Davis Valanciunas / Johnson Is making the playoffs in the east.
correction, that is Dragic who doesn't have as big a track record, etc. sorry about that. http://blogs.canoe.ca/courtside/ May 26, 2012 ....The Raptors are extremely high on Lowry, so there is little doubt – despite Morey’s desire to keep Lowry in the fold – that he and Raptors GM Bryan Colangelo will discuss a Lowry deal. If that falls through the Raptors could instead pursue Dragic, though I do not know if he is a favourite of theirs like Lowry or not. After Lowry burned the Raptors for a game-high 26 points (including 4-for-4 from three) in a three-point win in Houston, I asked Raptors head coach Dwane Casey what he thought of Lowry and Casey lauded the guard for his toughness and ability. “He’s a hell of a competitor. He’s their heart and soul and spirit of their team and I love the way he plays,” Casey said. Long-time Raptor Alvin Williams, now a scout with the team, is extremely close with Lowry and is one of his mentors. Both are from Philadelphia and both played for Villanova. “Alvin is my main man,” Lowry once said..........
