You wait till he has his best offseason so far to say this? Still so much obvious deals to be made as well.
If true Morey needs gracefully bow out before preseason. This offseason started off with promise but has turned into a utter embarrassment since the draft. My message to Morey is "quit while you have time". Its only gonna get worse from here
because he doesn't make the rockets much better? i'd rather tank than be a apart of a sideshow. this franchise is turning into a joke that just wants money.
Why would NY match the Lin offer if they land Nash? That makes no sense to me and yet it's in the Yahoo article.
I'm confused at this part too. I guess Lin could still sell a lot of merch but paying the guy $30 million to play backup minutes doesn't make sense and pushing him to two guard might not work either.
After reading all of these posts nobody mentioned the biggest factor/stat between Lin and Dragic - WINS. Everyone is criticizing Lin for his TO rate, his lack of defensive skill, etc, but what about the main stat that counts? WINS. In between the time Lin became the starter and Melo came back, the knicks won 7 out 8 (8 out of 9 if you include his breakout game off the bench) - including wins over Utah, Dallas, and the Lakers. Yes, you may argue they had AMARE - but is Amare that much better than Luis Scola? You may argue that they had Tyson Chandler defending the paint - but is Chandler that much better than Marcus Camby? Regardless of his TO rate, lack of defensive ability, there's one other thing that he did extremely well that goes beyond his stats - LEADERSHIP. He made his teammates better and instilled confidence in his teammates! He put up 38 points against the Lakers and he talked about how great his TEAMMATES played! Who wouldn't wanna play with a guy who puts up 20+ ppg, and says what his teammates did outweighs any of his personal stats?
Morey spinning in circles. This is truly embarrassing. Hopefully, the Knicks match for that Linsanity money.
Wait, so what's the alternative to not signing Lin? It is to my understanding that Lowry has no intention of playing for McHale, and Dragic will probably get paid to play somewhere else. That leaves us with Lil Wayne and Livingston.
It's part of the game. Knicks don't know of they'll be able to close the deal w/ the Suns so they need to try to deter other teams from bidding for Lin. If they can't get Nash before July 13, they'll match Lin, but if they do get Nash, they won't match. No way in hell. Nash, Lin, Melo and STAT would be disastrous defensively--fun to watch on offense though. And Chandler can only do so much. Lin at 1 is decent at defending--he gets exposed sometimes more due to inexperience, not because of a lack of athleticism or size, which means his defensive problems can be corrected.
Whaaaaaaassssssuuuup?! Pay me b****es! It's kind of funny how you could have had signed me for 1 or 2 mil a year when I was sleeping at my bro's apartment!
Plenty of pieces to make it work in all three directions. Will it play out like that? Could and should.
I would rather over pay for Dragic then Lin. Dragic still has more upside in my opinion. It is a risk contract that my be worth trying since he has a chance to out play it.
i dont get whats going on. so do the rockets want to make lin their starter and trade lowry? or just keep him as a back up? i watched the HIGHLIGHTS of the 35 point performance he put on the lakers and i wasnt all that impressed. i looked at his list of FA pgs (http://hoopshype.com/free_agency/point_guards.htm) and saw that there are more frugal options for a BACKUP pg who is gonna play 15-20 mins a game. patty mills is a guy who stands out since he has some upside which is something the rockets love.
Morey's building a 20-win team, and Les is beyond content, salivating at the thought of selling hundreds of thousands of Lin replica jerseys in the Far East.
