Again, it's very weird to see Morey trying to go hard for Gordon thinking he has a chance not offering him the max.
So not knowing all the salary cap tricks, me prefers to wait and see what happens.

He was hoping to sign and trade with New Orleans.

I am pretty sure there is not a team in the NBA Gordon wouldn't agree to a trade for...including the Bobcats.

But let's play the what if game...imagine if we build a package including rookies and Martin's contract for Gordon and he says no. That would be twice that Martin almost gets traded to NOLA :p

If the team matches an offer sheet and retains their free agent, then for one year they cannot trade him without his consent, and cannot trade him at all to the team that signed him to an offer sheet. They also can't trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction

I can't speculate and I have never spoken with DD but how many times have you had an opinion and changed your mind after reading pages and pages of comments. It happens and my point is that because some one os more known and posts more often shouldn't make him a target. That's all I'll say because other then people trying to make a name for them selfs I hate posters that distract the forum (which I'm doing ). Sorry for venting in the wrong forum

What's your point? The theory was he wouldn't do an offer sheet. If Gordon agreed to come here they would try to do a sign and trade without an offer sheet and avoid the whole matching rules issues. We'd send Martin and some combo of players for Gordon. There was a whole thread about it.

Why are we hoping for the sign and trades again? i think some things are pretty much decided on the Gordon front now. Its pretty much over.

Yeah, only went to UT grad school....but hey - most people that see things long before the average folks get labled as idiots.

I wear that with the knowledge that eventually most people come around.

    Jamison,

I do not know you. Let me put one of your ideas to bed. I have no interest in "making a name for myself." If Clutch wants to take away all my rep right now I won't offer up a peep. DaDa is a target because he makes it unbearable to read these threads. I normally avoid the GARM largely BECAUSE of him. In the offseason I lurked my way back over here and have gotten into it with him. If my posts have offended you in some way I apologize. I don't know you and have no beef with you regardless of whether you agree with DaDakota. Despite what he and tomatostiff may think, my issues with them has nothing to do with their opinion of Morey or with tomato agreeing with DD. There are plenty of posters who don't like Morey that I have no problem with.

Again, I in no way aimed to ruin your forum experience. Sorry if that was the result.

And what if he agrees to come here but then the Hornets and Rockets don't agree for a trade?

You can't force the player to not sign with other teams cause he's restricted and the Hornets won't give him the max if nobody does it.

You are being by far the most reasonable guy on here, folks are just upset and are venting at the biggest target on the boards - me.

No one likes to hear that the org is sucking hind tit, especially when it proves that the resident blow hard (me) was right all along.

It is easier for folks to call names than to acknowledge truths.

I think they will. Might have considered a s&t if Phoenix had any assets they wanted.

Its because most people hate being proven wrong constantly. Its more appropriate to be humble than take the glory. Now I know its wrong to try and be right many times. However some people just beg for you to say it outright on clutchfans because they ask for it. So it warrants a response when they even make threads about calling out others/getting personal. Then they get handed their hats and never like the fact that you are right ever again. Will never admit it at that point.

Ever since we got into it over religion in the D&D you have been a complete twit in the GARM - don't blame me for your problems.

If I understand you correctly, then yes, your thought is correct. The Rockets appeared to be hoping to get him to agree to come here on the condition they could do a sign and trade with NO. That would obviously be dependent on NO being a willing partner. If they had refused, we couldn't make it work with him. He went somewhere else and signed a max offer. I think the likely truth is that Gordon just wanted to get his max offer to NO would match and he could be done with it.

Exactly, and they point out the times that you are wrong though, never failing to EVER acknowledge the majority of time being right.

    It's ok though - I know.
