Who do you suggest replace him? What has he done that is so terrible? Considering the cards he has been dealt he has done an admirable job. Let him work his magic....
Your not done yet. I merely did more for the Rockets than you have. Putting pressure on this organization is not hating. Its expectations. I have always said IF he gets something done. Right now its just 3 draft picks. Its the first step. Let please play out before you idiots blow your load too early again. I would like to be wrong for once on Morey. Please stop jinxing us before he has actually pulled something off!
I'd say your position is the short-sighted one. Let's just say we disagree. I see it this way: he does pretty good with the technical stuff like drafting and trading and getting good contract terms on free agent contracts. And, yeah there's luck involved too, so sometimes good bets will nevertheless be punished with poor results. But, in the long run, you have to think the odds will even out and Morey's talents will yield what they are worth. I'm not in the business; I'm just a fan. I'm limited in my ability to look at the draft prospects he passed on, the free agents he didn't offer enough money to, and the trade offers he said no to. All I can really measure him on are results, which is all that really matters in the end anyway. So, give Morey a long enough run of time for his talents to yield fruit and then measure him on outcomes. In my estimation, the time runs out at the end of next season and I wil judge him on results. If he's had enough time, has talent and still doesn't have results, I must think there is some flaw in him I can't see as a fan. He's bad at strategy, or he's bad at interpersonal skills, or he's bad at being lucky, or something. Whatever it is, even if I can't see it, if he goes too long without results it's killing us and he's got to leave. To do otherwise, to ask what GM could do better, or to consider the hand he's dealt, or to blame-shift onto Les -- those things are an implicit acceptance of mediocrity. It seems myopic to me to look at the little things he does well and ignore that in the big picture we're runing in place.
See I told you it was not wise to try and call people out prematurely on things. People are not haters here. They point out flaws of the organizations plans at times. Now please do not jinx the team again before a big move is about to go down. I sure dont want to have to revisit another thread of a devoured and wasted poster again. Its getting pretty pathetic now. I would like to leave a few of you Morey followers with your dignity if you stay more civil next time. Save the call outs for after you do something significant.
I give credit to Morey for being proactive. He reportedly made elaborate preparations for the off-chance that Sacramento might not get their player at #5 (Robinson) and be willing to deal the pick. I can't fault him for the fact that his plans were shot to hell by Charlotte taking Kidd-Gilchrist, allowing for Robinson to fall to Sacramento. I do fault him (and Les Alexander) for placing the Rocket in this situation in the first place, by having too competitive a team during the regular season to get a high lottery pick. But let's see what Morey can do during this free agency.
We were told to believe the stacking of talent would yield something and it hasn't. Some in the very thread are giving him a mulligan because he didn't know yao ming was done in L.A. Throughout the garm he is given a pass for trying but being cockblocked. Well,I'm a hater because I expect more from my team. A week or so ago when someone leaked williams would chose between dallas and nj,he stated that even though dallas has older players,he has confidence that the organization will get players there. Players are attracted to l.a. for this same reason. There is something to be said when guys around the league speak glowingly about certain organizations and their management. We can say money speaks very loud and some of this is true, but to guys becoming free agents, they have to be sold or recruited. I don't think if the money is even, players are choosing the rockets over a lot of teams. They see the constant flux and movement. Now, I'm not gonna say morey should sit on his hands. I just think he tries to hard to fit in. Meanwhile dallas just cleared about 8m and can amnesty haywood to get enough to offer williams max money. Utah has a lot of cap room as do denver and portland. I just care about results. Get it done, don't tell me what almost happened. CD turned the middle rd picks into #7. He then turned those guys into the 2nd player in francis. Eventually he turned francis into tracy mcgrady. He hasn't done anything close to that. In all fairness,he's still young in the game, but at some point, the honeymoon will be over. For a lot of people, its been over.
As much I respect your opinion, I believe that failure does not deserve punishment; incompetence does. That's a very crucial distinction.
It is not the failure of incompetence It is the failure of accomplishments - Charlie Pillilo [More or less] Rocket River
not a hater for anyone including Morey, just simply think Morey is not qualified for his current position. He could be very good as a technical assistant.
Ok it appears Muarry has let many of us down. Can't believe it but the guy has down 180 in my eyes in less than a week. Signing Lin over Dragic will be the cherry on this **** cake. I'll withold judgement till the end of the offseason but I'm no longer fully behind dorrell
Another mother ****ing inciting thread, like the Rockets community on here is not divided enough without jackholes making threads to argue more about the same crap they are arguing about in other threads. Well done, Jack hole ! DD
Morey is all talk. But when its time to sign on the dotted line.. he backs down how many years have we been hearing.. OH THE ROCKETS ARE TRYING TO MOVE UP FOR A TOP 5( what going on 3 years now) Oh lets not forget our plan to get a STAR Morey is a good guy, but we need some direction, and im starting to believe that agents dont wanna deal with him anymore
You are one of the most reasonable, respected posters around. People should listen to you. There is an issue of accountability for which Morey definitely gets a pass from many a member. One more year, and then give someone else a chance to try to steer this franchise out of the mediocrity threadmill.
