Truly tanking would not be signing anyone to begin with, especially at that contract. Asik will help on D, that makes our team better. The purpose of tanking is to lose games.
Uless he is going for the most average team ever in the history of averageness. All role players and maybe a 8th seed finally. That could be his goal since he has not traded Lowry, Scola, or Martin yet. They are perhaps that delusional.
Good, I'm fine with tanking while playing the young players. Trade/amnesty Martin and Scola. Play X/Lamb/Parsons/White/Montie... gogo
That's the kind of tanking I am okay with. Very few stars are born from the bench. You got to give your young guys some minutes to figure things out.
Tanking is alot easier to stomach than whats going on. This is horrible, down right heartbreaking....
LOL My first Clutchfans tweet-inspired thread. Awesome! Seriously though, if Morey is going the rebuild route (like we ALL know he wants to), the only way I can see Les giving in is if he makes all these grand public overtures for free agents and trades that he knows have low likelihood of actually happening. Then he can say he tried, and he has an excuse to clear out a lot of players keeping us at .500 status with the excuse of clearing cap room (Lee), or trying to facilitate future trades (Dalembert, attempted Scola/Martin/Lowry), and replace them with younger/drafted players. Maybe, I'm just hoping that's what's happening, but it's really no different than the "Boom or Bust" strategy everyone said we were going with this offseason. Just that he pretty much was more prepared for "bust" from the start.
So we get nothing for letting guys like Lee/Dragic go? No future firsts, no prospects, just lose them for nothing? Terrible way to tank/build a team.
We still need to find homes for Scola & Kmart. I would keep Lowry pouty or not, unless we get a ridiculous offer for him. Now that Dragic is gone, he'll straighten up. His problem only started once Dragic got hot. Lowry/? Lamb/Livingston Parsons/Morris White/Jones/Leuer DMo/PPat/Brockman This of course is hoping the Bulls match that ridiculous offer for ASSik
uhhhhh.... Going young is not tanking They are still going to be competitive enough in the West to compete for the playoffs, and the coaching staff/players will still put forth enough effort to be in the mix. Get over the whole tanking fixation, and just learn to root for the Rockets young players to improve.
It's about time if that's in fact what they're doing. They're gonna really suck this season if they also ditch Scola and Martin, but it's for the best in the long run. Win 20-25 games this season, get a high draft pick, clear out a ton of cap space, and develop the young players. Stop trying to swing for the fences with these pipe dreams like getting Dwight Howard.
That one edit to your post makes it pretty much the definition of tanking. It's not about trying to lose, just that going young makes it hard to win. But as the young guys get experience, and the team gets better draft picks, eventually it becomes pretty good (see: OKC).
Do not agree. There are teams that literally lost games on purpose. Watch the final game of the season last year vs. the Hornets to see what losing on purpose looks like = tanking. The Rockets will not do that. They will continue to try and overachieve, and retain a winning culture. If you think they are going to be bottom feeders, then prepare to be dissapointed. If you enjoy watching young talents like Parsons, Lamb, White, Patterson, etc. get better and grow before our very eyes then you will be enjoy this next season.
Thats the spirit. Actually GROW their value instead of decline it on the bench or in D-league just to watch veterans compete for nothing.
No, we are not. Lee at the salary he wants says he should be a starter. That move helps you float if you don't already have star players or really need to fill a void at the two. You guys know it's not even July 11 right?
