What are the odds of the Knicks not matching any offer for Lin? What am I missing here? They wouldn't be the Knicks if they didn't.

What is this? Like, while wallowing in self-pity, we're calling the ex who on top of things is now practically engaged to be married, after getting dumped by the one we really wanted. I feel like this is just an exercise in futility, hate it.

So I guess Chase Budinger is better than Parsons?

Morey had him( and could have signed him to backup Lowry for cheap) but instead cut him.. lol.. Now he is going to overpay

    In Morey we Trust

    Let's back it up.

First take a look at the Knicks wins and losses last year.

    http://espn.go.com/nba/team/schedule/_/name/ny/seasontype/2/new-york-knicks

I think we can all agree Knicks were dead in the water before Jeremy Lin started getting major minutes.

Lin comes in and they win 7 straight, most of that without Carmelo (injury)and Amare (beravement leave).

I'm not giving Lin all the credit, Tyson Chandler, Steve Novak and Iman Shumpert played a major role. But Lin was the star of that winning streak, fluke or not that winning streak does not happen without him.

Then their 7 game winning streak gets snapped in New Orleans, they bounce back to win in Dallas with Lin putting on another great performance on National TV.

Then Carmelo comes back the game after and they promptly lose to the Nets and this losing continues and wind up losing 8 of 12 games. It's clear that Carmelo coming back has harmed the Knicks, and he has quit on D'Antoni because he's not the focus of the offense Jeremy Lin is.

D'Antoni tells the Knicks brass point blank he wants to trade Carmelo, they refuse, he resigns.

They win 6/7 games with Carmelo and Lin and Amare with Woodson coaching. Lin is injured then with a Carmelo oriented offense they win 11/17 then lose 1-4 to the Heat.

In terms of results and the team playing more like a team (passing, ball movement) the Knicks with Jeremy Lin as the focus was a much better team.

Even the Miami Heat game everyone likes to harp about, the fact Lin was getting swarmed was mainly due to the fact that Novak's 3pt shooting was benched in favor of Carmelo. Novak was key to Lin's success.

When Lowry was healthy.. No PG on the Rockets wuld have taken his job

Bud lost his job, because of his D

up until Lowrys injury, when he was playing at an All-Star, you would have to be on Mars to ask him to go to bench

There has got to be a trade with Lowry already in the works. Won't be surprised if this is just waiting on the Rockets acquiring a replacement starting pg. This explains the urgency - other teams aren't going to wait on Dragic to play the market, they'll just call off the deal.

Otherwise why not just roll with Kyle? 6M and 8M is too much tied to a single position on court and would just be a luxury. Unless Kyle has really fallen out with management.

And why should Lowry be starting if he's still hurt and not 100% over a guy who was healthy and playing well and helping the team win?

What happened to "I don't want to hurt my team by trying to play hurt." mentality.

The reason Lowry is being traded is because he expressed his displeasure. I'm willing to bet the Rockets would have been more than happy keeping him on his contract.

I've always felt a starter shouldn't lose his job because of an injury. That being said, I don't think players around the league care very much for McHale and the way he's handled Lowry, nor Morey and the way he's filled the team with "assets" instead of top notch players. If Dragic walks, we'll try to sign Lin as a backup to Lowry (who will start for US). I don't see us trading Lowry know matter how upset he sounds in the offseason, knowing he's an almost all-star and we won't find anyone as good to run the team. I personally think Dragic's holding up many possible trades because we won't move Lowry until we know we have Dragic back for certain.

They beat Nets(non playoff team), Jazz(worst playoff team), Wizards(non playoff team), Lakers(Bad road team), timberwolves(non playoff team) and Kings(non playoff team). Then they lost to Hornets. Nothing special. Then he was exposed by Heat.

Lowry has not been traded yet, and i don't believe his displeasure really matters. The only reason Lowry is being shopped is because so many other teams want Lowry. We'll let him go if we can get a "superstar" for him, or if we get Dragic to resign we can possibly shop him for more of Moreys favorite thing in the world "more assets" .

I can't say it would be a terrible move. His shooting and turnovers can improve. He'd fill up empty seats get us someone at the all-star game. We'd have someone with "star appeal" without giving up any of our players (assets for you diehards lol). It would be a good move in my opinion. I love dragic but if we doesn't sign it's good to have another option.

If I was Lin, I would stay in NYC.
Nobody gives a crap about Houston, his status wouldn't be in the light as much.
Melo has lost a lot of weight this summer, and if Amare comes back in form, they could have a solid core.

As for Dragic...I like him a lot as a player...but Clutchfans treat him and CP like sons of Jesus.

Lin needs to use the Rockets to get a good contract for the Knicks to match. He won't be leaving.

Which would be a pretty small disaster for the Rockets losing Dragic at this point.

If he didn't play for New York and don't think many people would have been talking about him.
