Also on a contract Memphis can't trade and get anywhere near equal talent for (a contract that makes him not that much of an asset) ... and a player when substituted by Battier (provided the right pieces/all-stars were around ... sounds like the Rockets actually) did not lead to his team missing a beat in the playoffs last year. Could argue they played better in the playoffs last year than this year.
LOL, with max contract? Yes, that's so valuable right now My opinion of Morey changed when he started going after Melo like a dog in heat. I thought to myself, as a Stat geek why the hell would Morey go after one of the least efficient and non-intangible guy in the league? Then he talked about how he was willing to get 90% bust rate players if the talent was there, that's when I realized Morey is way too risky for my taste. I still like him as a GM, but honestly the way he goes balls to the wall all the time grinds my gears.
I'd rather Morey not count on luck and the stupdity of other GMs/owners to bail him out. I'd rather posters not count on the stupidity of other CF members to try to prove a point.
No that means that I haven't seen ANY evidence that it will take "infinity" to rebuild this team. In other words, Morey has made no glaring errors....he just hasn't made any big moves....well...none that Stern didn't overturn anyways.
I think he has done just fine with what he has been presented with. Bosh and them knew they were all going to a big city like Miami. He made a mistake in Rudy Gay sure, but overall how many seasons have gone by and we have said what a great job he has done. Where are all of our "In Morey we Trust" pictures? He hasnt done bad this offseason, he is still working his ass off to improve us. He can only work with what has been given to him.
DD you should know better than that. Just because Billy King is desperate enough to get talent in the short-term doesn't mean max contracts for subpar players are now suddenly moveable. Look, the Lakers got Gasol for Kwame Brown and an unknown young center in the Euroleague, is that the going price for 7 foot multi-dimensional players?
My mind was changed? I call it a death by a thousand cuts. With each cut I get more and more set in my ways on my views of Morey. He is like that stupid kid around you that you cant stand because he keeps making your life hard with all his mistakes. Not big ones but a bunch of tiny ones.
like Jordan Hill, Thabeet, and TWill. I think Morey thought he could wave his magic on them, and them turn into decent players. But common sense will tell you, when a player like Jordan Hill( taken 8th in the draft).. is traded in his rookie season( that he probably isnt very good)
For the XXXXXXth time ... EVERYBODY, and I mean EVERYBODY knows it's LES that has chosen the path. Right or wrong, whether Morey should've tried to convince Les to do it differently, is up for debate. BUT for the XXXXXX+1 time, EVERYBODY, and I mean EVERYBODY knows it's LES that has chosen the path.
But you take chances. That is all he was doing. Really, Thabeet and Hill weren't the primary pieces for either deal.
Jordan Farmar, Johan Petro, Anthony Morrow and Jordan Williams along with DeShawn Stevenson (via sign-and-trade) and a future lottery-protected first-round pick Joe Johnson-level talent? Apple of DD's eyes I guess And DD thinks Morey is EPIC FAIL GM
Thats a backbone problem is Les Alexander is to blame for Moreys problems. In which MOREY SHOULD DEFINITELY BE FIRED.
I didn't even realize Petro and Stevenson were still in the league until this trade went down. I don't even know who Jordan Williams is. Luis Scola is the only guy on our team that doesn't have positive trade value (Martin possibly, but on an expiring I could see it for a guy like, IDK, Rudy Gay?).
