I'd be so mad if we trade Lamb or White.

all good points, but what about his medical? and what about his attitude? and what about the potential for him to bolt after one year? Are all of those risks worth giving up a large cache of young, potential all-star talent and more?

It matter what else ATL is giving. If they are giving JSmith as well, I'll go that direction.

Dude you've been on CF for like 7 months, you have no right to be a thread nazi yet. That takes at least 9 months.

He was playing hurt this year, and only played 5 games. As a 22 year old 2nd year player, he averaged 8.6 rebounds a game.

Kyle Lowry's career best rebounds/36 minutes was 6.4 during a rookie season in which he played 10 games, his career average is 4.6.

Brook Lopez's career best rebounds/36 minutes was 9.6 during his rookie season, and he's averaged 7.9/36 minutes for his career. This "Kyle Lowry is a better rebounder than Brook Lopez!!" nonsense is pure hyperbole. Before this year, he played in every game of his NBA career. He's a 24 year old 7 footer who has proven the ability to score 20 ppg on 50% FG shooting, and has even shown some capability for protecting the rim, though he's leadfooted. That's a rare commodity.

Meanwhile, you go on to say:
He also shoots free throws like Shaq. Which actually isn't hyperbole.

I like the collection of young guys the Rockets have too. But where they can actually beat an NJ offer is not on the talent side, but on the cap management side.

NJ's deal requires high dollar, multi-year deal commitments. They can't really take back any big contracts. The Rockets can.

Just imagine what it would be like. Every single day fans would be begging Howard to stay. The signs at the games asking Dwight to please don't leave Houston, we really really love you. Mayor Parker and the City Council singing songs about how wonderful Houston is and how much we all love Dwight. Reporters constantly Howard what team he wants to play for. Of course Dwight will say he will make his decision at the end of the year, giving fans a glimmer of hope that he might just stay.

Let some other city kiss this guys ass for a year, I'm not interested.

As far as his medical, I don't think our staff docs would let a trade go down if he failed his physical (Sean Elliott). His attitude, he's been whinning for the past couple of years and will continue to whine as long as anyone listens. He'll do and say what he can to get where he wants to be and once he don't go there and end up somewhere else he'll STFU trust me. He realizes once he "comes here" he will have to stay here because we will be the ONLY halfway decent team with the ability to pay him max. Brooklyn just pulled themselves out of the race with the JJ signing, with GWallace, and DWill they won't have any money left. No way DHoward passes up max money to go play with his friends for MLE. Trust Me

All the more reason not to do a deal for Howard. Let me get this straight:

he's coming off of major back surgery, he's got a bad attitude, there's a chance he could bolt after one year, we'd be giving up all the good young talent we have, and we'd be saddled with bloated long-term contracts.

the real question is, why wouldn't we do it?

    but seriously ...NO!

That's because we tend to overrate our own assets a bit. There is NOTHING we could offer that is anything close to a package centered around Bynum.

Magic don't like our "mediocre" players and picks.....they want the concentration of talent to be among fewer players, not over 5 or 6...

Well the thing is that if we were going to give up any picks I am pretty sure Morey would put lottery protection on it or something like that.

I am not necessarily in the bring Dwight to Houston camp, in all honesty I am undecided right now. I just want what can make our team better. As of right now I am just playing devil's advocate to different situations so we can all look at every aspect of acquiring him or not.

I agree. I mentioned overrating assets in another thread was hit with the argument that it was more because Orlando was looking for things that we had, and Brooklyn/LA didn't.

Most posters here believed that the Magic would want the package we have over a Bynum deal, which after these latest rumors is clearly not the case.

It's just a matter of time. Dwight is a Laker.

The only thing left to see now is whether Morey will help facilitate a deal that helps LA get Dwight and Orlando get what they want.
