It all depends, but I heard news of split-off and was bullish on pharmaceuticals so I got in early.

 

If you are trying to win a contest, you will likely have to gamble. Does your grade depend on how well you do? If it does not, I would just put all my money into a leveraged ETF and hope you pick the right one.

 

I'm not sure. The details aren't there yet, I'll ask some kids from last year that participated. That seems like the smart choice lol. More than likely I'd beat out all the kids attempting to day trade and losing all their starter money.

 

Since November i am up $500 bucks .

Optionshouse is cheaper than any other site BTW.

 

If is has tremendous momentum, it might not be a bad buy.

 

if my career as a failed trader taught me anything, it's really just:

I was holding AAPL for almost two months only to make $10 on each stock, $580 at time of sell. That was Friday. Since then the stock is up another $10 bucks.

I am thinking boosting my portfolio up ato 1k of shares. Think ARNA might double by next year?!

 

Has anyone tried trading based on StockTwits?

I was thinking about opening a portfolio (fake first, then real) and trade just based on that in the short term. Seems like that's what trading has gotten to now a days anyways.

 

SMBL has been up close to 100% since Jan. WOW.

 

stock twits kind of sucks. there are a few good traders on there but it's mostly spam.

Chuy's IPO, anybody like this one?

 

I was trying to read thru their sec filing for the IPO and it is certainly an expensive stock for a restaurant. If I calculated right each restaurant is valued at 5+ million based on their market cap. That means its already pretty damn expensive. Further they already have a good amount of debt so I al curious how they are going to successfully execute on their massive growth plans.

 

I made 1k overnight this week, could have made 2k if I waited it out. the stock went up by more than a dollar in 2 days, currently at $4.31...

I think the bears are on this one, it'll probably drop next week to $3.50, still strong buy in my opinion

Hello guys, I am kind of new here. I am majoring in business and am really interested in investing and all that stuff. I have money saved up to play around with.
I am only 20 and have no clue where to start. Any advice would be appreciated.
Like where to start, how much to invest, what to look for, any good sites, books, anything!

I am pretty much in the same boat as you. but what site to use, i prefer optionshouse. and try to watch jim cramer.. that is what i do when i have spare time.
