I was wondering what people's favorite single stand up joke is. Some of my favorite acts over the years have been Hedburg, Russell Peters, Aziz Ansari, Chappelle, Louie CK, Bill Burr but nothing had me tearing up with laughter like John Mulaney's "Best Meal Ever" joke.

The rest of his stuff is kinda mediocre but for some reason I absolutely died laughing at this joke. What are y'all's favorites?

There was this group from NY, late 90s. They had this one skit where they'd all take turns in saying "number one" over and over.

Both great sets, is there one particular joke that you're thinking of? I guess I'm kinda looking for obscure stuff because I've heard most of the great comedy routines.

Not the most famous bit from Bring the Pain, but it made me laugh the hardest.

Ironically enough I think Dane Cook's closing joke on Dave Attell's Insomniac Tour movie was one of the better single anecdotes I'd ever heard. He's obviously relied a little more on his personality and charisma than on serious preparation since then, which is a shame because I think there are genuine observational skills there.

Donald Glover also did a story about going to Home Depot with his adopted and real siblings that killed me.

I always like to hear Brian Regan's pie story from his first day in college.

Bill Burr did a podcast with some anecdotes about corporal punishment that had me hyperventilating. It's long and probably feels a little derivative but it just hit home.

I watched Eddie Murphy's Delerious when I was about 8 and I couldn't wait to get to school the next day to tell this joke:

the one about eating food at a strip club brings a smile to my face whenever i think about it. mainly because i share the exact take on the matter, and had previously said the same thing more or less word for word to my friend who has no qualms about chowing down at strip clubs.

Can't find it anywhere, but the Eddie Murphy bit about the difference between black secret service men and white secret service men.

White secret service men are crazy. They be jumping in front of bullets and **** yelling (in his dopey white guy voice) "I must save the President!!"

Black secret service men just side-step and say "**** that ****! They killed the President? Oh well....I'll just have to get a job at my cousin's cleaners."
