Completely agree. Lopez is a great young talent, and has much more potential than anyone on Houston's roster. I think half the board is on crack to think that the Rockets' offer is better than the Nets'. Some people are saying it's "garbage" which absolutely cracks me up. Honestly, if anything, I think New Jersey is overpaying.
They are blowing up in New York over all this. repost of Smith's rant....http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33_eXd9IlxA
Excuse me. 6'9.5" ...from draft express: http://www.draftexpress.com/profile/Kris-Humphries-2903/ but the obsession over half an inch is still absurd.
They get one good player an average player and a second year player that could go either way and three what will be very late first round picks for the most dominate player in the game... Yeah they sure are offering alot!
@WojYahooNBA There isn't great enthusiasm within Magic that the Nets have the ability to make the most appealing offer for Dwight Howard, sources tell Y!
I am chatting with a buddy now in Brooklyn who gave me that stuff -- he says its hard to work right now.
Are you serious? What can Curry do? He nearly ate himself out of the league. Doesn't have a go to offensive move, doesn't run the floor, most times just doesn't care. Curry is unreliable basically, It's a silly comparison really. Lopez got injured and is not the best defensive player but hell he's better than any big we have. Lopez can score on the block (nice hook shot), has a decent face up shot and can finish around the basket. Has the potential to be elite offensively. And he's what 24? The only thing Curry can do at an elite level is eat.
Lets be honest and recognize this for what it is... it is a brilliant move by hennigan... He leaks that they are close to a deal with the nets and then comes back and says its not close enough... thus forcing every other team involved to up thier offers... hes trying to enforce a bidding war and hes extremely smart for it... I think he wants future picks and no ones been willing to because its a rental except nets... thats why the offer that leaked was 4 future firsts... they are letting other teams know they value future 1st rd picks... Its a smart move and i honestly dont believe neys have enough...
While we may be over valueing what we have no one has equal value for dwight... no one is goong to give up dollar for dollar... magic will be lucky to pick up 85¢ to the $... Who has enough or the best package? Depends on what magic want and value... if the rockets want the best package of young talent with upside and capspace, well than we have the best offer... if they are looking for the best player possible in return, well than LA has the best package because of bynum... if they want overpaid above average quality starters(b.lopez/humphries) along with multiple future picks, than brooklyn... The thing is we can match brooklyns offer and exceed it... we can give up above average quality starters (scola/martin/lowry) along with young talent (lamb/white/jones/motie/morris/ppat/parsons/etc...) and if we were willing to part with 4 future 1sts(which im sure morey is not willing to do) than we trump brooklyn... We cant match LAs player (bynum) but we offer alot more cap relief and flexibility... we offer alot better young talent and better draft picks... Even if we overvalue our players it doeant change the fact that we have the best diverse and.attractive package... and remember taking on bad contracts is a big deal and something neither LA or Nets seem to be able or willing to do...
Good point on willingness to absorb bad contracts. I know media shouldn't alter perception of the situation, but the Nets, Lakers and Hawks all getting more run in this Howard thing worries me. Though I'm fully aware teams like the Nets or Lakers will ALWAYS get more attention, just because of the market. Still, it's never a good feeling.
