How about we don't help the Lakers create another dynasty, we don't trade for another big with injury issues, and we don't trade away all of our young talent.
I was on the Amtrak from DC to Boston this weekend, and one of the train conductors (actually kind of looked like Chris Broussard facial feature-wise and skin tone) talked exactly like Broussard. Same accent, facial expressions, etc. I thought for a second asking him if he's from Ohio (since apparently from previous threads here, the accent is common amoung black people from certain parts of Ohio) but decided it wasn't worth the time or effort. Cool story bro.
Actually, I don't believe anyone from ESPN has mentioned Houston. All the other sportswriters have, but it's like ESPN is avoiding mentioning Houston's name. We'll see who has the better connections I guess.
The bottom line is when it involved NY/Brooklyn it's gonna get more momentum and attention. Those guys are sitting there, all fans of the Knicks and Nets, hoping, wishing, wanting this to happen for their team. So, they are going to exaggerate the story/rumor to make it appear it's a done deal. I still say, Brooklyn has about a 1% chance of trading for Dwight.
I see no possible scenario where Bynum gets dealt in a deal that involves Howard and he does NOT end up in Orlando. Orlando isn't going to take our young players in lieu of Bynum.
The magic's gm is a genius. Magic's gm: Hey, you know what would be funny? If we acted like we were going to trade him to brooklyn and then pulled out at the last second to piss em off.
Huh? That offer is complete junk. The three first-round picks might even had negative value, when you consider how late they would be but still carry guaranteed contracts. At best, they're neutral. Brooks is a marginal prospect. And Lopez and Humphries - really? The worst thing a rebuilding team can do is pay max or near-max money to players who aren't at elite level. The name of the game in the NBA is stars, not starters, and I'm sure Hennigan knows it. If the Magic trade Dwight and rebuild, they need two things. The first is young players and picks with high ceilings. On that criteria, there are a lot better options out there (including from Houston) than Brooks and three picks in the late 20s. The second is cap flexibility to be in the mix for future available stars, and Lopez/Humphries would kill it. I think Woj nailed it - right now, the Magic aren't happy with any of the proposed Howard deals. But they're still rather make a deal soon, if possible. What better way to try and leverage Morey, Kupchak and others into better offers (taking back Turkoglu?) than by putting the Nets back in the picture?
I really don't want to get in a bidding war for Dwight. If we have to trade for him, we better keep D-Mo, Parsons, White, Lamb and future 1 rounders. I'm sure that is what Orlando wants though, so I would say pass. Same goes for Bynum.
I don't take Bynum's words at face value. He's not a particularly quotable guy and basically wants the media out of his business - thus, the vague quotes about how "I'll play anywhere". I really don't see him happily re-signing with a middling Orlando team.
So you think he'll walk away from money to sign somewhere else? Why is it that everyone thinks Dwight wouldn't dare walk away from money to leave Houston but players would do it to walk away from Orlando?
I don't believe that. I think there's a very real chance that Dwight would walk away from Houston. My hope is that factors like the good team around him, limited outside options with cap room (no Nets), relationship with Hakeem, etc. could convince him to stay, especially if given a full year to adapt. But if he wants to leave, he'll leave, 5th year or not. Worth noting that LeBron and Bosh each committed to the Heat without the guarantee of a sign and trade. Their teams eventually caved, of course, but they made their decisions without that security. Endorsements and friendships are pretty powerful.

Yannis Koutroupis: If I'm trying to trade for Dwight Howard, I don't worry about reports that they're not in a hurry. Fact is, they want to move on. 1 minute ago Read more: http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html#ad_not_found#ixzz1zZV81lc1
ESPN says they are, Carl says they aren't.....what happens when 2 reliable sources go head to head.... Stay tuned ! DD
They should trade him to the Rockets for 3 future firsts and call it a day. If it weren't for Houston (being the only team willing to rent him for 20 games) Dwight would be a free agent right now.
