Lowry no doubt started off well last year, but 5 weeks of those numbers is a stretch. He ended up cooling off relatively quickly ( although his numbers were still very good ). On the other hand, the 28 game stretch dragic had is arguably better than any similar period Lowry has had against some strong competition at the end of a condensed season. He had great numbers with a shooting percentage Lowry can only dream of and handled the ball just as well as hisnstocky counterpart. Lowry is a much better rebounder though.

The majority of gorans games were played off the bench and Kyle is still only giving you 2.5 more points and 1 more assist a game ( and 2 boards) than him.
I really dont think Lowry is a much better player ( if he is at all ). He's certainly more proven as a starter though, experience wise.

It's called a negotiation. Dragic isn't going anywhere. I'll be stunned if he gets more than $7 mill a year from anyone. Phoenix is the only team I can see overpaying for him and they are notoriously cheap.

I'm in the minority here, but Dragic is worth the risk at $8 MM - $10MM. Even at $10MM, I wouldn't close the door in his face like some posters would. Even in the post CBA-2012 Agreement, I feel like $10 MM is not asking alot for teams who lack a real, even-keeled, yet skilled point guard.

Also with regards to Kyle Lowry, I feel like he's a bit underpaid and the Rockets were lucky to get him before his production went up. He could also easily reach that $8MM-$10MM with another good year. Most of all, he's going to ask for it as well, eventually from the Rockets or another team.

Superstars, centers, and point guards come with higher premiums than most other players. You can replace a shooting guard, rather easily and not have as much drop-off unless it's a Kobe type. Though for most part, it's slightly more difficult to replace a good point guard. I feel like alot of players lack to court vision and unselfishness to become a thoroughly well-rounded player, yet if they possess those attribute then they may lack the skills to become a greater player.

Like Lin, I feel like even with a smaller sample size of games. Both players showed enough ability to be a vital piece to a team, not necessarily a star, but a good 2nd-4th wheel in a good team system. Right now, Dragic should find a team that suits his abilities, same for Lin (New York is completely clueless and have a chaotic mess on the horizon). Both players have shown few things that I sort of think you cannot over look - unselfish to a boot, can create with the ball, good court vision, great passer, and for Dragic a good shooter.

Phoenix has a new GM, kind of weird we went to the same high school and same college, but at different years. I'm sure if the Suns add more years, he'll take that over the Rockets, but I do not think Goran will leave Zoran.

I was one of the few people on clutchfans that said dragic might bounce and go to another team, and can you blame him? I mean Morey tried to trade him at the beginning of the year.....

morey wants cap flexibility = below average roster. Dragic will be gone because he wants what he wants and suns could easily use him

This article is from a Suns' fan site but Goran's agency republished it on their own.

I loved Goran last year, but come on. $10m per year? That's nuts.

Kevin McHale and Kyle Lowry are going to have to put on their big boy pants, sit down and smoke the peace pipe together.

If we lose Dragic for nothing and Asik is our big acquisition of the offseason I might just have to stop watching this team.

Gogi is definitely worth $10M and if they're not going to pay up they better have a REALLY good reason (e.g. about to get Eric Gordon or Dwight Howard).

I'm beginning to think that any smoke screen set by Maury is due to the fact that he's literally smoking behind closed doors, not because he's actually planning anything.

I get the feeling that Dallas is waiting in the wings on Gogi. If they miss out on DWill they'll definitely pay 10mil annually for Dragic. The Rockets needs to get rid of these bad contracts any way they can and sign this guy!

if it comes down to $9 mil, we should offer. Dragic's numbers last year are worth $9 mil. Yes, there's not a lot of history to go on, but i guess it comes down to whether or not you believe he will put up those numbers consistently; and I do. We can't let him walk over $1 mil.

We need to get him signed. We are always talking about going and getting other starts to build around and we have one.

Bad timing for these negotiations. Muary just gave a 14 minute per game player $8M/year….It’s going to be tough to convince Gogi that he’s worth any less than $9M/year. I’m fine with offering Dragic between $8 - $10 per. This isn’t the NFL where player salaries are dependent on the position they play.

Anyways, like other posters have mentioned we locked in Lowry prior to his breakout year so we got him at a bargain. 2 years from now he’ll be asking for $10M/year so I’m fine with giving Dragic his money now.

If we lose Dragic we might as well blow this thing up and back out of the Asik deal. Go into full blown tank mode.

Fortunately for Morey, he doesn't have to convince Dragic. Dragic will go around and get offers from several teams. If those numbers don't come out to be $9+mil/yr, he'll convince himself of this fact. On the flip side, even if Morey doesn't offer Asik a contract, and another team comes in at $10mil/yr, Morey's not going to convince Dragic he's only worth $7.

This is how the free market works.

You're right. It jus takes one team to say Goran we'llgive you $10mill/per and boom that's what he's worth.
