KHump has only shot above .500 once in his career. His best reb avg is only 3 rebounds better than when Scola got his contract. Those rebounding numbers are also inflated because the Nets front court, their team is so dreadful.

Asik got $8 million a year from super GM Daryl Morey, despite playing 10min a game. Humphries is a young double digit rebounder but his agent is going settle for 6 or $7 million a year? Dude you're smoking.

Is it possible for the Nets to arrange things so that Brook Lopez gets signed with cap room rather than Bird Rights?

Can they (1) renounce all FA except Stevenson, (2) sign Lopez to $13M starting salary using cap room, (2) sign Deron to max ($17.2M) deal using cap room, (3) sign Wallace to $8.9M starting salary using cap room, (4) sign Humphries to $7.8M starting salary using cap room, (5) then do the Atlanta trade, (6) complete the Orlando trade? Would the math work this way to avoid having Lopez be subject to BYC?

Wow there must be alot of fillers on the Nets end cause those salaries aren't looking to match up, and those draft picks are going to be really low. Wonder why they'd accept that over anything we could offer. Maybe because the Nets aer willing to take back Hedo?

Can you get Humphries's agent to agree to $7.8 million? (Less than Asik & a pay cut from last year in a climate where everyone gets overpaid?)

Why do I feel the Rockets are going to get involved somehow?

KHump is a PF, through his minutes his qualities are known, and his scoring inefficient.

The general rule of thumb I like to use is that if you've thought of a loophole to get around the salary cap, then the professional lawyers who craft the NBA CBA have almost certainly thought of it as well.

BYC from my understanding, kicks in if the team is over the salary cap at the time of the trade. And when you factor in cap holds, I don't see a way for Brooklyn to avoid it.

Do the math. Lopez at 9.75 (4.875) + Humphries at 8.5 + Brooks at 1.2 + 5 million for match purposes = $19.58m. Enough for Howard.

Humphries put up 14-11 with a block per game last year. He's 27 years old. I don't know what you mean that he wasn't as impressive as he was in 10-11. On a deal with say 2 years guaranteed and a 3rd year non-guaranteed, thats not bad value.

The Magic's new GM is trying to accommodate Dwight but this may be a formality since the Rockets and Lakers should have more attractive trade packages. He's trying to get the teams to bid against each other and then take the best deal.

It would be a shame to see Howard rewarded with a trade to the Nets.

Honestly, the Orlando GM should take the best offer for the Magic, regardless of destination. Screw Brooklyn, Dwight, and etc because at the end of the day his job is to look out for the Magic.

Interesting. I think you forgot they'd still have Farmar/Morrow/Petro on the books if they sequenced it that way.

If they sequenced the trades that way, their roster for salary purposes would be:
    Wallace - 8.9m
    Williams - 17.2m
    Stevenson cap hold - 3m
    Brooks - 1.2m
    Farmar/Morrow/Petro - 12.5m

That comes out to about 42.8m in committed salary prior to Humphries/Lopez. If the cap is 58m, their combined salaries would have to total 15.2m or less for the BYC not to trigger on Lopez. Even assuming they do that, 15.2m+1.2m for Brooks+5m in trade allowance still only lets them take back 21.4m, not nearly enough to get Hedo in the deal along with Howard.

Further, if I'm the Nets, I'd want to hold onto the rights to Damion James, Gerald Green, and Sundiata Gaines for dear life, because they have no depth!

LMAO! That's right he's back with Fegan isn't he? Would Fegan really allow him to take a paycut for Dwight to change teams?

    Oh nevermind.SMH

Oh, they can trade for Dwight. I'm talking about trading for Dwight and taking on one of Orlando's bad contracts. That's going to be really hard for even someone small as Duhon and it's literally impossible for them to that and take back Hedo as Broussard reported.

I'm frankly 90% certain that this is a smokescreen as the Nets try to desperately keep themselves alive. Don't see it happening.
