Nets doing whatever they can to get big names so they can 'compete' with Knicks over fans since they have Amare, Melo & Chandler (vs. Deron, Wallace & Joe / Mayo). Makes sense even though it's a killer basketball wise.

Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

They must know they're not getting Dwight. Otherwise, this and a potential Joe Johnson trade make absolutely no sense.

If Morey was in BROOKLYN they would have Kris Humphries, Jordan Hill, Patrick Patterson, and a few more 6 9 PFs

I wouldn't be laughing at the Nets situation. Their bad decisions means Deron could be leaning toward the Mavericks, and Dwight may follow him when he's a free agent even if it means less money. Worst case scenario for the Rockets.

Uh, the Nets would have been better off bottoming out and rebuilding.

I don't get how many on here can think that the Mavericks can afford the have Dirk, Williams AND Howard on the same team. Those three alone would take up about $50 million in cap room every year. With the salary cap set around $61-$64 million, they would have to spread about $11-$14 million to about 10 different players. At best, the Mavericks will get out of Dirk's contract after the 13-14 season.

They tried that, don't you remember that pathetic season where they lost all those games? They were in perfect position when they had D-Will, because they had cap space, attractive pieces to trade, and, most importantly, the promise of moving to new york. With the wallace trade, they really killed alot of hope.

Oh my god, this is too funny.

There's no way possible for them to get Dwight through a trade, and Dwight is insisting on going there. Between Dwight stupidly opting in, the Wallace trade, and now going for Joe Johnson the Nets went from possibly being a real team to rock bottom.

Don't understand why any player would want to go to this team.

Horribly horribly managed, no superstar is going to change that.

All Donnie Nelson and Mark Cuban have to say to Deron is "take a look at the Nets. Who would you trust to build a competitive team around you, Billy King or Cuban and Donnie?" Simple choice.

Why? Why Wallace and not Kirilenko?

    Brook Lopez
    Kris Humphries
    Gerald Wallace
    Joe Johnson
    Deron Williams

Not a bad starting 5 at all. Not much of a bench though.
