The thing is though, the Mavericks can free up space and wait a year right?

He could still bolt and claim that he's after a championship to go playing for Dallas. That would suck so much, I can't even imagine how much it would.

Dwight was saying "I will only re-sign with Brooklyn." Now he can't anymore.

***** dwight, lets get smith or horford. Unless deron resigns with the nets there no doubt dwight will follow him next offseason.

I could see Dallas making a hard push for Dwight. Don't count them out. Even if they don't get Deron they will be determined to recruit someone else really hard. Steve Nash perhaps? Goran Dragic? Mark Cuban is not one to sit still.

Dallas just doesn't seem to be in position to offer anything. They need to replace Terry too if he goes elsewhere.

Dallas needs to suck. San Antonio is getting older. The Mavericks are on their way to not making the playoffs. It makes our pick that much better, but they might find a way to be relevant again. I hope they don't get Howard or Williams.

Unless Orlando has a time machine I dont think they would really like anything Dallas has to offer (Marion, Carter, etc.).

But won't Bynum have to agree to an extension with Orlando if Orlando is going to accept him in a trade?? Why would Bynum do that? What incentive would have to waive his player option just to help the Lakers ship him out of LA? I can't see that happening.

Now that orlando isn't really in the driving seat, I'd only offer Lowry, Martin, Morris/Jones, Patterson, and a pick.

Keep Lamb, White, Motie, and either Morris or Jones

Very likely, just like the 3 way that never happened, we end up giving up way too much for one player(Gasol) and Orlando and LA get what they want/need, Howard for Bynum, plus Orlando gets prospects, likely 2 or 3 of these, Motiejunas, Patterson, Morris, Jones, White and Lamb.

Only pick we can trade is the Mavs top 20 protected 1st, we owe Brooklyn a 1st still, since we didn't make the playoffs.

They still are in the driving seat...whats to stop them from keeping Howard?

Sure he's asked to be traded but at one point so did Kobe.

If I'm Hennigan I'm on the phones trying to get Dwight some help and rolling the dice on him resigning.

If the Hawks trade Johnson then won't they have a boatload of cap space next summer? It looks like they only have around $23M on the books next summer, tied up in 3 players (Horford, Williams, Teague). Josh Smith would be a free agent ($13.2M expiring). The players they will get if the trade goes down:

Morrow - off the books next summer
Farmer - off the books next summer
Petro - off the books next summer
Williams - $884K team option next summer
Stevenson - no clue what he just signed for but it can't be much

So isn't it possible for Howard and another max player, like CP3, to go to ATL (his hometown) next summer? I'm not a cap guru. Just looking at Hoopshype salaries.

You must be a Laker fan.

That is horrible for the Rockets.

It's still pretty risky to keep him as they would almost certainly lose him on free agency.

But I hope your right... I don't really want him at the price they're asking for a one year rental.
