He seemed to quit on his team this year, got his coach (one of the better ones in the league) fired, only wants to play for the Nets. Seems like he is pretty concerned about being a winner.

They will have a hard time ever filling out the Amway center again if they trot out a starting 5 of nothing but rookies.

The upside is the key, but without a couple established veterans the fan base will revolt.

I'm sure when their offer started with Johan Petro the Magic weren't exactly thrilled.

    Brooklyn "Hey give us Dwight"

Hennigan "What are willing to offer us?"

    Brooklyn "Ummm, Brook Lopez?"

    Hennigan "..." "click"

Chandler Parsons is not exactly an established veteran. Imagine if the rockets were in that situation. I would imagine the fan base wanting us to play players that have a high upside, even if we lose more games. That way we find out who can play, as well as getting a higher lottery pick.

They're probably just as smart as Morey is. They know Dwight won't walk away from the money so they'd rather just keep him and call his bluff unless they get an offer that blows them away.

LOLOL, I'm sure that conversation was a quick one when Hennigan asked Thorn what he could offer, and Thorn said, "Ummm....some kid named Jordan Williams?"

    Yep.

The recent news of the Nets bowing out helps Orlando as much as it does us.

See if you can swing a deal for Eric Gordon or something and see if you could keep Howard in Orlando. Makes as much sense as Houston rolling the dice on Howard IMO.

Atlanta will now have room to sign him outright next summer, and also re-sign his bff Josh Smith to a max extension. Anthony Morrow is really close with Dwight as well, and they just picked him up in the JJ deal.

Things could get ugly down there if they dont trade Dwight.

That to me is the scenario with the highest likelihood. Now, there would be MAJOR damage control that would have to take place both on the part of Dwight Howard AND Orlando (both of whom would owe major apologies to the fans), but it's not something that's completely out of the realm of possibility. Nothing could be worse than what LeBron did to Cleveland, but I'm willing to bet they'd welcome him with open arms right now. I think the same would hold true for Orlando and Dwight Howard.

Parsons played at a high level as a rookie. He's in between in that he has one solid season under his belt and room for improvement. That makes him a very attractive piece.

I'd hate to lose him too, but if we get to keep one of Lamb/White at the cost of Parsons you might be willing to take that risk.

I think this is something Orlando has to say, regardless of whether it's true. Time is their only leverage against Morey and Kupchak. With the latest Nets development, I could see the Magic stalling a few days to see if Dwight opens up his "list", thereby getting more potential bidders. But beyond that, I don't see that it makes sense for them to drag it out. A team like the Rockets would offer even less during the season, considering there's less time to sell Dwight on Houston and less time to build the roster around him (thereby reducing the % chance that he stays).

Orlando has to threaten that no deal is close to keep leverage on Morey... but unless Dwight dramatically changes his list, I just don't think it makes sense for them to wait very long.

I wonder what Dwight's next preference will be. Could help or hurt us.
