http://twitter.com/daldridgetnt/statuses/219900474084691969 Too bad we won't be able to trade Scola for our pick back now. Oh well. Thought it was a long-shot from the beginning though.
Jarrod N Rudolph <s>@</s>JRudolphSports If Nets complete the deal for Johnson and keep Deron, it's pretty much a wrap on the Dwight Howard stuff. That's a sign of them moving on. <small class="time"> </small> David Aldridge <s>@</s>daldridgetnt Source indicated earlier that the Nets would proceed with JJ deal whether or not they get commitment from Deron Williams to stay w/Brooklyn. Adrian Wojnarowski <s>@</s>WojYahooNBA As teams finalize framework of Joe Johnson deal contingent on DWill commitment, Nets won't be sending future 1st to Atlanta, source tells Y!
Dwill + Joe Johnson with Marshon Brooks as 6th man is pretty solid in the East. Front court needs some work beyond Gerald Wallace though. Good to know they are out of the running for signing Dwight as a free agent next offseason.
It's hard to get value from a contract like that. I never imagined anyone would be so desperate/dumb enough to trade for him. I'm sure ATL is happy with expiring contracts.
Wait, so the Nets are out of the Dwight Howard race? Is that true? Deron Williams Joe Johnson Gerald Wallace ? ? (Brook Lopez?)
They don't need to. The Hawks are thrilled to find someone to take that HUGE contract off their hands.
Sure, they are offering Bynum but Bynum will also soon be an expiring and he doesn't want to leave a good thing like LA so he isn't agreeing to extend his deal just so he can waste away on a capped out Orlando team like Dwight currently is. The irony upon ironies - if Dwight wasn't so vocal about how much he hates his team, maybe Bynum wouldn't have a problem trading places with him.
Talent wise it was a bad move for the Hawks. They should have at least got Marshon, I know Hawk fans are pissed. Nets D-Will Joe Johnson G-Wallace Humphries Dwight or Lopez 6th man: MarShon Brooks ether way it's a solid team.
No, the Nets have not officially said they are out of the Dwight sweepstakes. However other than Brooks, who do they have to offer Orlando? I doubt that NJ will have max money to sign Howard in the off season...... so the reasoning is that Orlando will hold onto Howard or deal him to Houston, LA, GS or someone else that can offer more than the garbage NJ can provide at this point. King has really wrecked the Nets.
I would think the Lakers would in NO way offer the 2nd best center in the NBA in Howard for the best center in the NBA without a commitment from Howard. So I would say the Rockets are indeed the only team standing, unless another team comes out from no where. But still I see the Rockets with the best pieces to offer.
...unless Dwight wants to pay for nothing, yes it is true unless the Russion Billionaire wants to start writing some REALLY expensive luxury tax checks. I don't particuarly like that squad as a legit contender but that's good enough to be an also ran along the lines of New York.
Does this take away the Scola to the Nets possibility? We wouldn't be able to get our pick back now, but still a salary dump and a second would be nice...
No way the Nets now get Dwight. They now might compete for the WCF. But that their ceiling and they are locked into this roster. As for the Hawks, this isn't about talent. Hawks fans should not only be happy that they got rid of Johnson's contract, but also added a future first rounder. Great deal for them.
Adrian Wojnarowski: League source tells Y! that Joe Johnson deal now likely "happens with or without Deron." Nets officials are meeting with Williams right now. 1 minute ago Read more: http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html#ixzz1zVG6kLJf
