Then what would you do? Go into the season with basically the same roster? Because right now if you don't don anything that's what you got - in addition to having Asik as your starting center.

I am worried that if HOU is able to pull off trade we will not have any type of team left to compete. Then its a easy for Howard to leave at end of season, so all for nothing.

Ha, it was the rest of John Hollinger's article. But no problem. :)

Good post. Rebuilding can start THIS YEAR. If Howard leaves after one year and most of our young players are gone, be ready for a 10-year rebuilding. We will not have three first-round draft picks every year, you know.

As I said earlier, if you are going to trade for Horward, take some veterans and some young players whom we suspect their upside is limited. Otherwise, tell Orlando we are no longer interested and hang up.

Hollinger is pointing out all the stuff we COULD give up for Howard, and how it's a pretty awesome deal for Orlando. On top of that, we could pay Howard the max.

First of all, the fact that we could give up all that stuff, doesn't mean we are going to. We might give up a bunch, but we aren't giving up all those assets, and we aren't taking every single bad contract that Orlando has. What we will give up, however, is still more than any other team can do.

The other thing that really needs to be pointed out to all the Morey-haters is, YES, WE HAVE ACCUMULATED A BUNCH OF ASSETS THAT CAN BE USED TO TRADE FOR A SUPERSTAR.

I am so tired of reading that Morey has made no progress at all; the fact that we got the 14th pick for three seasons in a row doesn't mean we haven't gotten anywhere, and/or that Morey needs to be fired.

We have gotten very young. We have great cap space. We have lots of assets, including the three recent picks, plus DMo, plus Llull and this recent Turk deal. We don't have bad contracts. Haven't you guys noticed that other teams don't have these things?

We might have our three 1st-rounders, plus Asik and Gordon, or we might get Howard, or something else. I don't know how fast Morey is actually going to get us somewhere, but the progress is obvious, for those who have eyes to see.

If that's your worry, then you have no worry. The Rockets can do a 5 for 1 deal and still have enough left over to field 8 rotation-caliber players if you include rookies like DMo or White.

The only worry anyone should have about the trade is if there are future non-protected 1st rounders involved. Because if Howard leaves after next year, trading such a pick would hinder our ability to tank.

I dont understand why anyone would want howard on their team - for the same reasons I wouldnt want Terrell Owens on my team.

FA started yesterday and we have 3 months until season starts. We dont even have "basically" the same roster right now ! camby, bud, dragic, lee, dalembert all gone while lowry, martin, and scola on trade block. Did you also notice the bucks players we now have as well has lamb, white and jones on the roster. looks like a new roster is coming to me:p

Well, if you look at right now - Camby wants to come back, so does Dragic, Lee is an RFA and he won't go anywhere, Lowry Martin and Scola would be the main players in any kind of deal for Howard, so unless they trade them all for someone else - looks pretty much the same to me.

I doubt seriously any of those Bucks players stick.

The problem with your theory, is that the longer they wait, the worse the deals they can get for Dwight are going to be.

The difference is one is an over-the-hill WR, the other is the best center in the game...

The problem is that they are not all the same. Dwight opted in for this season with Orlando just a few months ago. If he wNted to play for someone else he should not have exercised the option. What he's doing now shows not only immaturity but a true lack of conviction and general understanding of the business. Be professional. Had he accepted a trade at the deadline this would all be over now and he would be sitting in Brooklyn waiting to sign, if that's what he wanted.

As of right now, it's looking like Brooklyn is giving him the treatment he is giving everyone else.

I really don't think this is Rocket science. Morey just waits until Brooklyn fills up their roster. If they sign someone like Johnson or Smith you trade for Howard. Brooklyn would have no cap space for the foreseeable future. If they keep cap space (which I do not believe they will do - signing D-Will is their top priority) you don't make the trade for Howard.

Sam Amick Per interesting tweet from @ProBasketballDraft regarding Clippers/Dwight Howard, source with knowledge of team's plans says no chance of a deal there so long as Blake Griffin or Chris Paul are the pieces Orlando pushes for in a possible deal. And, naturally, they would be.

It doesn't matter how you feel about Dwight, he's the best big man in the game. Anyone who thinks we don't "need" him is letting their emotions get the best of them.

Someone should give Dwight Howard Carlos Lee's phone number. ;)

I say Murray should give this deal one last shot.
