I'm honestly not sure why he's so against playing here. Despite missing the playoffs, we're a great basketball team. Howard wouldn't have to play second fiddle to anyone. He shouldn't be worried about being compared to Hakeem or Yao; all three were different players in their own right. It's not like Dwight is a 21st century version of prime Hakeem.
We're a team that is competitive in every game, an office that has a track record of constantly trying to improve, and a city that expects winning teams. Those are three things that SHOULD be of value to a player. You can't find all three of those in several other NBA cities. If you're negotiating, you don't sell yourself short.
Dwight saw the Nets were making a really stupid decision to go after Joe Johnson, so he went to the media to let the Nets know that "Hey, I still want to be there... so don't mess it up."
Then he ruins his reputation with every team, player, GM, and fan involved with the NBA. Nobody wants to be a blackballed.
I don't understand why he wouldn't at the very least have a team like LA on the list... My guess; he's hella immature and listens to every sports writer's opinion talking about how he will be following Shaq's footsteps. Even if I'd trade the idea of him going to the Lakers it would make sense to at least make them an option... and if you're the Lakers why hold on to Bynum and Howard, 2 starting centers on one team. Both of whom will clash and be disgruntled by the end of it. No sense at all.
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nba--dwight-howard--i-ll-only-re-sign-with-one-team.html He's been taught by multiple stars before him that you can get away with it in the NBA.
Dwight should know Houston doesn't expect him to be near as great as Hakeem or Yao. We saw Yao own him every time they matched up. LA knows he won't be close to Shaq. We know that the league is so bad at the center position that he's the best by default. Serious question, are broke back and Williams lovers? They really don't want to be apart.
I think it's a bit funny that Dwight's bothered at being called a coach killer. Reminds me of Jaime Lannister. It would be great if his nickname could be "Coachslayer" and everyone would say it in a spiteful tone. "What do YOU want...Coachslayer?"
This. Everybody knows he wants to be on the Nets, yet he comes out today and says it again. He has to be using media to let the Nets know whats up.
Hmmm.. interesting. But who would he play with? Will Josh Howard still be around? How many wins to the Hawks have now Joe is traded for riff raff?
Like I said in the other thread, Josh Smith and Dwight are friends. I believe he is MORE likely to stay a Hawk after the JJ trade.
