Don't get me wrong Eric Gordon is a very dynamic offensive player, one that can be among the top in PPG. However, his injury concerns are something that doesn't appeal to me. I'd prefer if Houston backs away from this. I think health needs to be among the top priorities, from what we've experienced. Last thing I want is us to sign Gordon for four years, and have him play maybe 2.5 seasons worth and in that process stunting the growth of Lamb. I say keep the payroll down as much as possible heading into next season; trading Scola/Lowry, letting Martin expire, not re-signing Lee for anything substantial. Get a top draft pick, we cannot predict where, but top 5-6 would be possible. Let Dragic man the PG spot fully, let Asik man the C spot fully, let's see which forwards emerge, and let's hope we make Lamb push Martin out. Healthy internal competition for our this team year, coupled with a top pick next year, and lots of cap room.
Exciting. Give them Patterson, Lamb and Terrence Jones and I'll be a happy man. And do something with Lowry. Dragic/Livingston Gordon/Lee Parsons/White Scola/Donuts Asik/Camby That's a damn fine lineup, especially if Parsons improves his outside shot over the offseason. Probably doesn't work out cap-wise, but it is nice to dream.
One problem will this lineup: I doubt Scola is still on the team. I think he gets traded, just like Martin and Lowry...
If it's a sign-and-trade deal, the max contract for Eric Gordon would be 4 years, $58 million. FYI: Just learned from Larry Coon last night that the 0-4 year max will actually increase a little this season to about a $13.67 million starting salary.
NO talk show host on 790 just said a deal could get done. Thinks New Orleans would opt for sign and trade, not sure if NO wants Gordon on a max. Said a deal would have to start with Kevin Martin and then include 2 of the Rockets young players. Says the NO GM is a huge fan of Parsons and suggested the deal they would want is Martin, Chandler Parsons and Montejunas.
~14 mil per year is not bad at all for Eric Gordon. The injuries are a huge risk, but at this point I'm ready to gamble on a budding star in this league. I think we might be able to hold onto Lamb in a S&T too since they drafted Rivers at 10. Maybe they take Martin's expiring contract, Patterson, <del>Morris and/or Terrance Jones</del> (EDIT: replaced with Parsons based on speculation)? Then they still have tons of cap room this year and next summer too. Assuming we land Asik and can sign Camby, then let Dragic walk: Lowry/(Gordon) Gordon/Lee/Lamb Lee/Morris/Jones Scola/Montiejunas/White Asik/Camby Outside shooting would be a bit of an issue but that would be a lineup to go to war with. A bunch of very tough, gritty players that can play defense. Scola's weaknesses are actually minimized with Asik...i'd actually prefer to keep him if we become contenders.
Didn't want Gordon before, don't want him after hearing that. Not worth the max and not a huge need. You have 2 SGs under relative control and you just drafted another.
Trade sucks trade is bad, on top of that we get to overpay for a player has yet to prove he is even as good as the 2 guard he would be replacing the lineup.
Trust me I can't wait to see Motie play, and it's hard enough keeping my girlfriend interested in Rockets games. If we got rid of her favorite player (Parsons, yep I know) it would be suck trying to get her back into it lol.
Just tell her she's racist if she won't watch because parsons is gone. But seriously. That deal would be tough.
Eric Gordon is better than anyone on our team. Period. The injuries are a concern, but he's 23 years old and already shown he can score in bunches. If the deal is Martin and 2-3 of the young guys (which would leave 3-4 of the young guys) then its a no-brainer.
That sounds a lot better. But I'm not willing to part with Parsons and DMo as rumored or any of our rookies. I did some extensive research, and believed our picks are indeed top level talent who could go top5 in an ordinary draft. At most I'm willing to part with DMo whose translated stats just doesn't justify the hype here(his Euro league PER is much worse than our new 2nd round pick - yes, the 53rd pick).
Well if they take parsons they can't have motiejunas!! Its one or the other. I mean i'd almost prefer to give them parsons over motiejunas, motie has so much potential and he hasn't even played in one game. Its gonna suck if another dirk/milwaukee bucks type of things happens with us. At least with parsons we know were not giving up a star, still a good player though.
