Agreed 100%. I have used both products and the Mac software is extremely limiting with very little flexibility. Same argument holds true for the Iphone vs Android.

What do you mean that the software is extremely limiting?

I hate this argument. There's nothing limiting about OSX. Can do just as much if not more than Windows. Themes and customization can be done. You can get the same programs/applications on OSX that you can on Windows (except anti virus).

Same goes for iOS vs. Android. Once you jailbreak, anything is possible on iOS. Widgets, themes, layout. Everything can be changed. After making all those changes you can even have the same sluggishness on iOS that is featured in all stock Android OS.

I think the software arguments come from people doing different things. Definitely, if your in IT and software dev win7 is better, though linux might beat it. But i hear osx has much better video editing tools. I fall into the former category.

Development has changed. It's easier to set up github access or installing various open source utilities through homebrew. Ruby development is much more convenient too.

Of course, if you do large scale enterprise dev, you might be constrained to what corporate allows, but bootstrap start ups are using OSX more and more as the platform of choice. The OSX/Linux connections is way too convenient.

This is from a guy who has used Windows all his life. Pretty much I was used to the tools and Windows's warts. OSX isn't that much better from a usability/consumer standpoint, but it's not worse either...just different.

You're more likely hardware constrained than OS constrained. Air or other "ultrabooks" sacrifice performance and accessories for an awesome lightweight experience.

I have a co-worker who plays Diablo on his air, though. Probably without the graphics turned all the way up.

My problem with Air is that the current generation only supports 4 GB. I'd wait a few more months for the 8GB versions to roll out. Add an SSD and you'll have one of the most slickest and lightest machines on the market.

Really??? Have you looked into mfcs' i'm not sure if its andy grove who said it ... but the saying is was dev, dev and dev. With the the ms framework, i can make a semi commercial Application in 2 weeks. Thats why theres sooo much low level winapps out there. It doesnt even compare

    Semi-commercial? Open source baby!

I doubt Grove cares as long as there's an intel chip in either box. When's the last time you've worked on a mac?

    Can't argue with that...

Granted there are devs who love C#, but it's more a wash on Java development and the open source ecosystem seems more Mac/Linux friendly to me.

The consumer product I bought is clearly better than the consumer product you bought.
