    3 words..

    ASIK AND DESTROY

The guy is just havoc in the paint. Amazing how many dunks he got just off playing 10-15 min a game.

If he was better than Taj then he'd come in at the 5 and boozer/noah would play the 4.

It's hilarious how a lot of people say that now (not just him)..

but just 2 years ago, everyone couldn't stop saying "if Chuck was only 6'10" he'd be DPOY/all-time-defensive-beast/etc/etc" ... AND many didn't think his Sacramento contract was all that ridiculous.

I'll tell you this--I'd much rather have a 7 foot Chuck at $8mil than a regular Chuck at $5mil!

Boozer and Noah both average 30 minutes a game so I would hardly call that heavy minutes for the big men.

and I'll just have to agree to disagree on Taj Gibson being worth 8.5 mil

I hear now that the Bulls and Rockets can't sign & trade.

(Don't know how I missed that)

    My bad...

If you look over the history of the league, when players earn more minutes, they generally keep up their level of performance/production on a per minute basis. NBA players are in good enough shape that they won't get tired after 15 minutes of play (other than fatties like Eddy Curry, I guess).

Many example of this besides Chuck Hayes: Most winners of Most Improved Players Award (including Aaron Brooks), Kyle Lowry, Zach Randolph, Ben Wallace.

Not surprisingly, you are basically the same person 25 minutes into the game as you are 10 minutes into the game.

That was over two seasons...really not that hard to put together a mix for any player in the NBA.

For a center, defense is a necessity . Offense is a premium for Nba centers. Ideally you want an offensives capable center, but with defense I am happy. A taller chuck Hayes is good....

Here are some interesting line ups in case Chicago gets desperate:

    Asik/Smith
    Boozer/Gibson/Leur
    Deng/Morris
    Martin/Hamilton/Butler
    Rose/Watson

    Noah/Camby
    White/Scola/Patterson
    Parsons/Jones
    Lamb/Lee
    Dagic/Lowry

No way they give up Noah because of Asik.

just got back from playing some pick up basketball about an hour ago. the guys i was playing with were not that great at all. the opposing team had a giant, who like the rest of them was not that skilled offensively or defensively. there were several instances were i would beat my defender and get to the basket, but just seeing the tall guy there waiting underneath the rim made me think twice about putting anything up, in fact not once did i even attempt anything with him there, no matter how open of a lane i had.
i guess what i'm trying to say is don't underestimate the sheer presence of a big guy down there because even if they don't block shots they'll definitely change a lot of shots. like many of you, i've been reading a lot of the talk in these forums and i myself was not sure what to make of an asik signing, but after tonight, it sort of dawned on me, an epiphany if you will, that it can be pretty mortifying seeing a very tall person towering over you. just my two cents...

There have been reports of them shopping Noah. Maybe they think Asik can be a cheap replacement. Noah doesn't really provide post scoring.

    But you're probably right.

Chuck Hayes is still obtusely underrated.

Best isolation post defender in the NBA, and one of the best ballhandlers/passers for a big.

(He should have went to Minny with Adelman, Sac is a fat mess...)

Let me guess, you think you would be a better GM than Morey, right? Cause we all know how stacked the Rockets are at center.
