The more I look at the FA market and the more I don't think Dragic will get incredible offers. 1. Portland has their PG in Lillard. 2. Steve Nash apparently still commands a big payday. 3. Jeremy Lin is another 1/2 season star except he has more marketability 4. Raymond Felton, Andre Miller, Jason Kidd, and potentially some other PGs are at least starter quality, and teams may prefer those players at lesser money than Dragic with a huge deal. Overall, I can't see any team absolutely blow Dragic away with a huge offer. I doubt he gets more than Asik money.
FWIW, Aldridge was just on NBA Game Time and said: - Rockets have been trying to trade Lowry and he thinks they will get it done - He expects Dragic to stay, and noted he hasn't been going to see other teams or anything Didn't list sources or anything like that.
just to be clear, I don't think Dragic is worth $10 mil a year. I'm just saying that if Omer is worth 8.5 then dragic should be at least 10 mil
everything you say is correct. if you polled this board yesterday, and asked if people would rather have dragic at $10MM/year or asik at $8MM/year, close to 100% would say dragic. today is a new day though. morey made a neato offer to asik. and, you know, morey is always right.
Are you mental? He hasn't missed a regular season game in his entire NBA career. How does that project to 60% in the future?
[rquoter]A source close to unrestricted free agent point guard Goran Dragic said the Raptors, Suns, Nets, Hornets, Lakers and Rockets have all expressed interest thus far. The Rockets, for whom Dragic shined in the second half of last season, are said to be coming on the strongest. Yet Dragic, according to the source, has a serious interest in being part of a winning team and will consider that factor as much as the money. The source made it clear, however, that Dragic expects to be a starter for whichever team he ultimately signs with. It's not known whether he would return to the Rockets if they can't find a new home for point guard Kyle Lowry, who has been vocal in his displeasure for head coach Kevin McHale and clearly wants out. Dragic has not taken any visits yet and is expected to return from Europe on Monday. link [/rquoter]
that's why I want DM to finish all the deals before the signing date in order to have an early verbal agreement with Dragic.
VERY INTERESTING about New Orleans. If they were saying Austin Rivers was their PG, then what are they signing Dragic for? If Rivers is their SG, then what do they sign Eric Gordon to a max contract for? Maybe this is reason to believe that New Orleans may not really want to match a max offer for Gordon and would be amenable to a S&T. As far as finding a deal for Lowry: it shouldn't be that hard. My guess is the Rockets are just trying to figure out where all the pieces fit. In fact, if New Orleans is interested in signing Dragic, how about we sent Lowry to them as a part of a Eric Gordon S&T? Solves everyone's issues. Hornets get an nice PG. Houston gets a high level SG and clears way for Dragic to be the undisputed starter. Everyone happy?

with Wallace getting $10 mil. Batum getting $12 mil. And Asik getting $8 mil; Dragic will probably end up at $9 mil. Just a guess.
In what NBA? This league has plenty of PGs but incredibly short on bigs. That's why bigs get a 2x multiplier on their "value."
QTF. It's a lot harder to find 7 foot players that can walk and chew gum at the same time. We all experienced that with Thabeet and guess what? He's might be getting a 4th chance in OKC. Bigs are a premium in this league and PG's are not. If there is a position in the NBA that stacked with talent it's the Point guard position.
