Ugh this is the NBA man. Players have agents man, a LOT of them use the same one

Maybe the agents are sick of Morey

Ok, let me make sure that I understand your point. Morey isn't loyal to his players because he chases too many trades? Don't you think that his job is to improve the team? In order to get better players then you have to give up something. If you explore a trade opportunity, then somebody's name is going to come up in discussions.

Would you prefer that we just sit tight and play our current hand?

The thing that I really find confusing is that you complain about Morey wanting to make too many trades, yet in just over a month you've either suggested or agreed with suggestions of acquiring/trading the following players:

    Scola

Sounds like you are in agreement with trying to make any move possible to get better. If you really disagreed with Morey's approach then shouldn't you have been lobbying for us to stand pat?

If Morey attempting to make trades really bothers you then why are you agreeing with so many trade ideas?

I love how you take assumptions and twist them into facts to back your position that has nothing to do with the subject at hand. Well done sir!

Oh really could have fooled us.

    Sincerely,

Steve Nash, Micheal Finely, Tyson Chandler, Devon Harris, Antawn Jamison, Nick Van Exel, Reaf LaFrentz etc...

BTW, I'm guessing you probably don't live in Dallas but Jason Terry has been very vocal this season about Mark Cuban not keeping players around that have helped the team and even committed that he was auditioning for his next contract with another team with each game he played this past season.

Pretty much every player on that list is as good or better than any player Morey has traded or attempted to trade.

Steve Nash was a great pg in Dallas and Dirks best friend. - Cubes would not even make him an offer.

Nick Van Exel was arguably the most clutch performer on the Mavs during the play offs in 02 and 03

Devon Harris was a nightmare for San Antonio in the play offs

Tyson Chandler was the missing piece for a Mavs championship.

You clearly don't know Mavs history if you are trying to compare the trades Daryl Morey has made to the Bon stop player carousel in Dallas over the years.

Morey just needs to stop addressing players as assets and call them by name.

Everyone knows what they are in reality, so there's no need to reference them as assets.

    Use a different word.

All GM's know the game and play it accordingly.

Morey's just too candid at times.

If everyone knows u view your players as pawns, they immediately devalue your players when you offer them up in a trade.

Morey is great, but he needs some media/PR training.

    Not a diss...just sayin'.

I find the fact that you think DM treats his players like assets more then any other GM especially funny.

I find the fact that you think DM should be loyal to players that can not get the Rockets to the playoffs sad.

He did stop doing that after it became some rediculously issue. Funny that the media, other GMs, other players etc.. Continue to use the word assets all the time as a good thing, but here on clutchfans it has become a punch line that gets tossed around every time DM tries to improve the team.

Morey is the one that brought them here.

If the Rockets make the playoffs this past season, we still dont get Dwight Howard. So if you think we can acquire a star by being the 8th seed, and being bounced out of the first round like Utah, then so be it. Utah went from having 2 lottery picks to nothing because they made the 8th seed. haha

Morey needs to tank, so we can actually have a chance to draft a star player, or trade that pick for a Star player.

In your thread title you quote Kevin Martin as saying:
"Treating players like assests (sp) will get you NO WHERE!"

Where did you get that quote from? If I google it I don't get any hits except for your thread.

Can you provide a link that contains that quote?

Funny, it's DMs loyalty to the vets on the team that had made it impossible for Houston to land a number 1 and number 3 pick in the draft like OKC did when they treated Ray Allen like an asset and traded him to Boston.

When was the last time Morey even used the word assets? I'm thinking he has avoided it over the last couple of years. At least after it became this rediculously issue.

People comparing Morey to Presti need to stop. Regardless of Durant being their or not, Presti made some key trades like Maynor for a 2nd rounder, or Daqueon Cook for Cash. These are the type of moves that good gm's use to build around the high lottery picks that they have drafted in previous years from tanking

Also to take Harden and pass on Rubio when they could have went in an entire different direction all together with Rubio as their starter especially with how turnover prone Westbrook was earlier in career. Those are smart GM moves

Im willing to bet that Morey would traded Westbrook, and pursued Rubio haha.

This is not true at all. 100% perception fueled by an endless punch line here on clutchfans. See my post a few posts prior to this on Mark Cuban.

And you have come to that conclusion by the non stop assets punch line that gets thrown around clutchfans every time DM tries to improve the team.
