So they trade Dalembert and get Osik?? Great stuffs!! lol
I still can't get over Morey trading away Budinger for a DRAFT PICK?? That's a total robbing!! I bet they can't even find a Budinger this year with that high of a pick lol. Rockets is screwed.

Overpaid doesn't mean the guy was WORTHLESS. It just means you overpaid his performance.

Maybe a trade is the wrong word. The point is there is wiggle room for another team to offer Asik a fourth year before July 11 and the situation changes. And there is the opportunity to send Chicago a draft pick or a young player to entice them not to match an offer. And also there is the opportunity to work an agreement with them not to match a CLee offer if they don't match an Asik offer. So, Asik could become an asset in a Dwight Howard trade and may just be the piece we need to be involved to top some stupid laekrs offer involving Bynum.

Asik will be consistent on defense,I admit. He doesn't have growth for improvement though.

I'll take the younger guy that plays hard all the time. People act like 8 million dollars is going to be a big deal for us but it really isn't. No big name free agents are coming here this year or next. Might as well take a shot on a young guy with upside. If this were a 5 year deal like it use to be under the old cba I would be very against it but three years really isn't a big deal for a team in rebuilding mode.

    This.

Asik played 14 MPG. Our defense was excellent with him on the bench for 32 MPG.

Some Bulls fans overrate the hell outta Asik.

There are Bulls fans that wouldn't wanna trade Noah and Asik for Dwight Howard. That's how much some of our fans overvalue our players.

Scola's last 3 years at $30M total isn't exactly a bargain either...as we'll likley find out trying to offload it.

I sure hope the Bulls match this offer to save us from ourselves. This is the kind of dumb contract we see from other teams every off season.

omer asik +1 more on the asset list. I'm just grateful we have a young center below the age of 30!! Woo! Will montie back him up? Or staying at the 4?

Bosh isn't a focal point (though I'm sure Noah could handle it) and you're going to have to double Howard anyways.

Big men come at a premium these days, especially young ones who can walk and chew gum at the same time.

You act like I expect Asik to go out and be great right away, I don't. I like the deal because we're locking up someone with a lot of potential for three or four years. I don't know if Asik will be Ben Wallace or Thabeet or whatever. But the Rockets have some time to kill, so we might as well see how he turns out.

I am speechless, without words. The Rockets have done themselves in. Three chances at a center prospect every bit as good as this guy (maybe better than), and they pass. Then pay big. How much more can the fans take?!

Column on Daryl Morey driving truck through Arenas rule loophole and likely getting Asik (Insider) http://es.pn/MMA0m6

Rockets GM Daryl Morey uses 'Gilbert Arenas rule' to maximum advantage

In the current CBA, it's known as the Gilbert Arenas rule. In the next one, it might be known as the Daryl Morey rule, because the Houston Rockets GM just drove a Mack truck through every one of the provision's current loopholes in agreeing to a three-year, $24.3 million offer sheet with Chicago restricted free agent Omer Asik.

Let's set aside whether Asik is actually worth $24 million over three years for a moment -- we'll tackle that further down -- and just ponder the evil genius of the structuring of the contract and how it gives the Rockets a huge advantage in prying him from the Bulls.

Under the "Gilbert Arenas" provision of the league's collective bargaining agreement, a player like Asik -- a second-round draft pick coming off his second season -- can be offered only a maximum of the midlevel exception in free agency for the first two seasons, but can be offered any amount up the maximum in years after that.

I suspect the Bulls match anyway and all of this is moot.

This brought to you by the same poster that guaranteed a Texans' home playoff defeat at the hands of the Bengals...

Bulls have 3 days to match the offer by the Rockets. I hope the Rockets get good news by Wednesday and the Bulls don't match the offer.

3 days from July 11th, so their deadline is the 14th.
