Step 1 of Master Plan (acquiring/signing stud center): CHECK!

I think the signing of Omer Asik at that price is an absolute steal considering that the guy has the potential to be a defensive game-changer and one of the top 5-10 rebounders in all of basketball. I know I'm calling his signing a little prematurely, as the Bulls have 3 days to match, but I find it hard to believe that Chicago matches this contract.

The question now becomes what's next? What would it take to S&T for Eric Gordon and then turn right around and trade for Pau? Follow that up with re-signing Dragic and we could potentially have a starting 5 of Dragon, EG, Parsons, Pau and Asik...that is beyond filthy.

Thoughts MB? What does Morey do now?

We'll find out if Chicago matches 2 weeks from now. I wouldn't get my hopes up about him yet.

But imagine pairing him with Asik? I think that would be awesome. Both would feed off of each other, one being the defensive presence and the other being the offensive force. But, yes, the contract of Gasol is scary as hell. But I can't help but think that Morey is going to continue to look into this.

If you have a strong offensive team in place and need a center, I really like Asik. He could be a Ben Wallace type. But, unless Houston acquires those guys, they really don't have much in terms of offensive firepower (of course we don't know how the rookies will turn out, so that could change). Now, if Houston is able to get a deal done for Eric Gordon, then I like the Asik move a lot better.

As it relates to Pau, no way. He showed signs of decline this past year with his lowest point per game total in his career at 17.4 and his first time below 18 points per game since 2004-2005. He has just logged way too many minutes over the years.

everything you just said was good til you got to signing Pau. Why would we need him? He brings absolutely nothing but his Puppet Face to a game

His defense is blown way out of proportion.

I'll take him, but he's a guy that gives you 20 solid minutes a game. Thats it. We still need a center.

His defense is based off of Thibodeau's scheme, our previous JVG scheme, we don't run any of that. Nonetheless, he's foul prone, but the best damn center we've had in quite some time sans the post-deadline touch of Camby.

I'll enjoy his production in the 30mpg he plays, but he's just an intangible piece to the big project. Getting Dragic in, developing Lamb and allowing our of forwards to emerge as possible all-star caliber(I think Patterson, Moti, Morris and Jones have that potential but one has to emerge) then finding the next forward to work with him.

A lot lies up on how Lamb pans out, as a fan not trying to be too biased, I think at 12 we got a huge steal. He just has that idgaf way of playing, has the physical skills to be very good, the experience playing at a high and low level to do great. He's got immense amount of talent too. I see a 4,5 time all-star. I don't see his game any bit as the same as Michael Redd, but same caliber. Like between Rip & Ray Allen, a few time all-star, legit 20ppg scorer, and someone teams worry about.

I never said J Smith would play center .. but if we are in fact signing Asik , and we are gonna be trying to trade Scola, then why not Smith at the 4? I'd much rather have him there then Pau .. Pau doesnt play center for the Lakers either, never said Pau at the 5 . IN fact I dont want Pau no where near this team

Pau is overrated, and in decline

why arent teams trying to trade for him. The only teams that are trying to trade for Pau are the T-Wolves run by( KHANNNN)... and Morey until he finally realized how overrated this guy was

Absolutely. RT @_PatrickHurley: did #HOU structure the deal as such intentionally to make it more difficult for #Bulls to match?
