    Smart move by Morey!

15M in the last year is not really terrible.

We'd probably have to give up Martin for Gasol in a trade. But Lamb is capable of fulfilling that offensive player role.

What a 7 foot center playing at the center position and he's not past his prime? Sign me up, cause I'd rather have Asik over trading for a disgruntled Dwight Howard for the core of my team only to have him walk away for peanuts.

Definitely wouldn't mind a legit 7 foot center starting so our PF's can actually play as PF's.

    Dalembert is a lazy birdbrain.

I'm not sure Asik can play 30+ minutes, but with him and Camby splitting minutes, we'd still have a very nice center rotation.

Remember how Camby changed our team last season the moment he came in? Well, Asik will do something similar. (although Camby is a possible HOFer imo. He was a monster when he was younger and still contributes so much to the game at his age.)

New to the board but life long Rockets fan but this is the way I see it too..... Looks like a genius contract to me. If by the 3rd year we can't afford him or we need to match salary for a superstar he can be traded along with prospects for a star......

Teams looking to unload salary will give picks or aging stars for it.......

True, but Asik hardly played - I don't mind the move, I just don't think it makes that much of a difference overall.

Still, nice that a SUPERSTAR like Asik wants to play in Houston.

another profit for this contract is that the third year is terrible, but you have a great expiring after the third year

    Yep.

If the Bulls don't match, Asik is a Rocket, and it's a large, but not unwieldy cap hit (though the actual $ in year 3 are high).

For the Bulls, if they match, the actual dollars are the cap hit. And it's a killer for the Bulls -- they've got 30m tied up in Boozer and Noah as it is. That would put them at 45m in 2014-2015 for 3 guys, not counting another max contract in Rose, or guys like Gibson.

    No way they match, imo.

The 3 year deal was brilliant. I just wish it was for say, 18-22m. That final season would still be north of 10m, and I doubt the Bulls would match.

Morey's approach to pair up defensive players with offensive one trick ponies has been proven futile.... he does it again...again

what's with the two way player's approach....

Dwight doesn't want to come to Houston. Has it stopped them from aggressively pursuing him in the last few MONTHS? Nope, it hasn't.

    Story of Morey.

amazing that so many people lose perspective on the real goal while being besotted by daryl's nifty moves.

    QFT.

Again, Les has to the man $14.9 million in the third year, but it only counts as $8.36 million towards the Rockets salary cap.
