They had a slow start, but in today's form they're unbeatable. You're right though, Reeko and ZBoy have to realize that Spain was lucky to advance out of group stage, Croatia and Italy nearly killed them and missed unbelievable chances.
Utter nonsense. Maybe Italy and Coratia should have done a better job of capitalizing on chances? You dont win the entire tournament on luck. The long scoreless defense speaks for itself. At this point, calling Germany chokers has more substance to it but the fact of the matter is that they have major holes in their defense which teams in the final rounds are going to exploit.
Hey, I said all along that we came in underdogs. No striker (Villa), missing our best defender at the time (Puyol but Ramos too that role now). I said they were playing with house money. They found a way to not lose in most games but when they needed to WIN, they did. Today was the best game of the tournament. I don't expect anything but sour grapes from ATW though. Failed EC08, WC2010, Champions league and now this. Sorry for your team coming up short ATW. You should stop going to the games because you seem to be a bad luck charm.
It's not nonsense, when your opponents hit the aluminium or msis 100% chances it's luck that you somehow manage to stay in the win and score in the last minutes. Dismissing that is ignorant and shows some of you are blind.
There is luck involved in every soccer match. A ball here, a ball there, hitting the post..... that is just the nature of the game. We are not talking about a match here. Saying that Spain won the ENITRE tournament on luck is stupid. I dont hear any commentators or announcers echoing your silly sentiments.
No one here said they won the entire tournament on luck, don't make up nonsense. We said they were lucky to come out of group stage, they played good after that.
Yeah, to allow 1 goal in the whole EC is luck. Call it what it is, A fantastic defense with an INCREDIBLE Goalkeeper. 900+ minutes without allowing a goal in knockout games. That's Casillas. Long live the King.
The irony in all this is that Spain just thrashed Italy, which was in its group in the early stages which further debunks the luck theory. Add to the fact that I would take playing good in the latter round over playing great in the group stages anyday. If Germany can figure this out, they would have been holding this Euro Cup and the last World Cup.
I think you completely miss the point...what does the match now have to do with the group stage? Rewatch the games before typing garbage here.
Like I said, calling that lucky is utterly nonsense. We are not taking one or two games here...we are talking about a long stretch. Spain's ball control gets all the news but I think their defense is what people seem to overlook.
You're completely overshadowin the whole point. Spain was lucky to not lose vs. Spain and Croatia. Yes they played good after the group stage, but it still doesn't change the fact. All your points are non-related.
Dayyyum. Zboy, I think Yung-T has a point about not Spain to playing their best early on. The passes were off, players not communicating (Silva) and everyone too afraid to shoot. They turned it on against Portugal and that win carried them to the Cup. Xavi played like 2010 Xavi today. Awesome. Yung-T I could use that same logic toward Italy and Germany though. Germany were unlucky that Balotelli turned into some beast. The Fact though was that German defenders sucked balls thus they lost. Same for Spain. They scored goals when they needed to and that's that.
I addressed that in the very first post. Spain didnt look great early on. But to me that is a testament to their greatness. Sometimes you have claw your way to victory. Its not always going to be pretty. I have to give credit to them for having come to the tournament with some questions and then winning the whole thing. Italy actually has been notorious for this in World Cups. A lot of time you would watch them in the group stages and think that they have no business of being there. But then they turn it on during the later rounds.
