If Orlando is willing to take the offer, Houston would be stupid not to accept. What's the other option play with 7 PF or attempt a S&T with other team? DH12 trumps any other plan for the Houston Rockets.

Exactly. Current roster isn't built for anything but trading away.

I say **** Dwight at this point.

Let's trade Scola and Lowry for assets- cash & picks.

Re-sign Dragic & Lee, sign Asik to a comfortable(4year/30m deal). Let the forwards battle it out to see which one's emerge at the SF & PF positions, keep Martin and force Lamb to push him out.

Keep our cap limits to really Dragic, Asik, and Lee(if affordable, not much more than what his QO is givnig him), keep the rookie contracts. Play the youngsters, get a real good pick next year and grow from within.

    Dragic
    Lamb
Draft Pick or one of our forwards like Morris
Draft pick or one of our forwards like Moti
    Asik

    Patterson
    Lee
    Parsons

It banks on us getting a cornerstone like forward or big man in the draft next year. If we can do that, I think one of our 100 forwards will emerge as suitable piece next to them, Lamb will emerge too, and Dragic is already Dragic. Asik is Asik too. For example, if we get a top rated SF next year's draft:

    Dragic
    Lamb
    SF
    Moti
    Asik

That's an awesome ****ing team. Lamb will be an awesome player, too, I know that.

This board cracks me up sometimes. The Rockets have a golden opportunity to get a top 5 NBA player in his prime because he has baggage and has made it known he wants out of his current situation. Yet, because Howard has handled it like a primadonna and the back surgery from last season, over half of this board wants them to pass on acquiring the superstar.

Newsflash, if you acquire Howard, he's not walking away from 50 million dollars to sign somewhere other than Houston. This game he's played was solely leverage to try and get to New Jersey with Deron Williams. Worst case scenario, you can blow the entire roster up, and rebuild through the draft. Either scenario is better than basketball purgatory, which is where they currently find themselves.

Nobody on this roster is untouchable when it comes to Howard. I don't care how infatuated you are with the new rookies, Donuts, Parsons, etc. You get the superstar and worry about the rest afterwards.

So Dwight is checking to see if he can take legal action against the Magic for "blackmailing" him to sign the option for next year. If he won the legal actions he would be a free agent to sign with Brooklyn. Sounds like he would call our bluff if we traded for him. It is Brooklyn or bust for him. No thank you!!!!!!!

Some will say that it's Morey's worst quality, while I say it is his best quality. Just because he has built a roster for trading doesn't mean he will make bad trades. At this point that would be a terrible trade for Houston for a virtually guaranteed 1-year rental.

At this point I would trade Martin and Scola for a rental, but not the young guys with 20-30% chance of becoming All-Stars for 4+4/5 years. I mean, even if the chances of that happening for each is as bad as Howard re-signing in Houston, it would still be a terrible deal.

IMO, the chance of Howard re-signing in Houston at this point is much worse than any one of our three draft picks making it to an All-Star game, let alone at least one of them making it to an All-Star game. What would have been a great gamble a week ago is now a terrible deal.

LMAO. Sorry to break the news to you, but we were NEVER close to getting Dwight. This whole media blitz of us getting Dwight was only leverage for other teams leading up to the draft. Looking at our roster, we dont have the assets to give to get Howard. Orlando wants another building block to replace him with. Who in the hell do they want that we can offer? Lowry? Um, no.

There are maybe 10 superstars in this league....

    Lebron
    Kobe
    Durant
    Wade
    Howard
    Love
    Anthony
    Griffin
    Paul
    Williams

And some of those are debatable. If you can get one of those guys, you give up anything you have to to get him.

The Los Angeles Lakers and Orlando Magic have had preliminary contact about a possible deal for All-Star center Dwight Howard, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Orlando officials are willing to discuss trades for Howard, and the Lakers have been one of the teams in touch with them over the weekend, sources said. The Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets have also talked to Magic officials, sources said.

While the Lakers have yet to make a direct offer, there's no scenario where Orlando would move Howard to the Lakers without getting back Andrew Bynum, L.A.'s 24-year-old All-Star center. Pau Gasol wouldn't fit the Magic's desires to rebuild with young players and draft picks.

The Lakers had been willing to part with Bynum for Howard in March, but those talks ended when Howard decided to decline his early termination option and remain under contract through the 2012-13 season.

The Magic reached out to teams Saturday and told them that they’ll discuss proposals about moving Howard, sources said.- Woj

Obviously this all depends on how you assess Howard's chance of re-signing with Houston. For those like you who thinks he will almost certainly not walk away from full Bird money, then obviously there is nobody on our roster that is untouchable.

Personally, I think that's just wishful thinking. If the extra money was enough to keep Howard, Orlando wouldn't trade him period. If it wasn't, then it's a terrible deal trading anything significant for him. In other words, in case we can trade for Howard, it is a bad idea to trade for Howard.

Unless you people have good reasons to believe that he somehow more open to signing with Houston than Orlando. If anything, I think the opposite is true.

The way I see it this opens up two good options (but I know that they would infuriate 2 different camps of fans more than it would make anyone 'happy' with the Rockets these days, at least on the GARM)

    1) Put together the best package (ie over pay) and bring Dwight over, rebuild around him with Morey's ability to find complimentary pieces

    or

    2) Put together a package of pieces we no longer want to go to NJ so that they have piece for Dwight in return for those expiring deals and future pick

I'd be happy either way, but then again I'm pretty laid back about these things.

And we have lift off...

With the Nets out of the picture, I think Dwight would prefer Lakers over Rockets. Like I posted before, just to avoid the Rockets, Dwight will work with Orlando to work out a deal with the Lakers. The best Houston can do is try and become facilitators and make it a three team trade....

But it's not. Dwight Howard isn't leaving 50 million dollars on the table to sign anywhere other than the lucky team that acquires him. This is all posturing from his camp because he knows he is running out of options to get to Brooklyn with Deron.

Nothing has changed since the draft. Orlando has never had "a little leverage" and Houston is still renting Howard for one year with the hopes on re-signing. Still the same.

Moreover, I don't know how you came up with 20-30% but that makes no sense. How could you calculate that????

....And to go along with your drafting statement, Morey should have gone full r****d and drafted need. Keep in mind that the purpose of the draft is to make your team better. Moving up to draft need would be the appropriate thing to do. Instead, we he drafts PFs and SG (which I'm okay with). You believe he drafted for All-star potential but you realize they will be fillers in a trade, right? You don't expect the roster to have 7 PF and no center. So, I wouldn't get attached to anyone just yet....And finally, how did these picks who are not All-Star potential, not sure where you picked this up but it's not right, raise their value since the draft? Hmmmm....

Lakers are gonna get him. I hate them. Morey is just killing me by a thousand paper cuts. Not only doee he mis on guys constantly? They usually go to the Lakers or Heat and win Championships. Morey SUCKS BALLS!
