sounds like he wants to play today, then accept the trade? or else why not just say "no" this morning?

maybe i'm over-analyzing the situation, but i can't imagine that he's really going to use the rest of the day to ponder, and that his mind isn't already made up.

Maybe he's trying to leverage the situation to get a $ bonus from the Astros/Dodgers in order to waive the clause.

Why is he in lineup if the trade has been agreed to? He can go out and get hurt today. Makes no sense.

Carlos holds all the cards. They're probably letting him do whatever he wants until he makes a decision.

why give himself a self-imposed deadline then?

I think there is a deadline from LA even if it's not a hard deadline. LA has lost 11 of 12 while being shut out in 5 of their last 6. There is probably some urgency on their end and I doubt they let this go on much longer before moving on.

If he plays in California, he has to pay state income tax. For every game he is a member of the Astros, he is not paying income tax.

That's such a copout for a guy who is making $18.5 million this season.

It's tax on $9m in three months. He'd be fine.

Yep. Wallace should be up splitting time with Lee and Johnson. If they want to continue to play Lee, give him a few outfield starts.

Dumb post. It's his money, guy, he doesn't owe the Astros a damn thing beyond playing out his horrible contract.

if carlos already is set in just going through the motions to finish out his career than there really nothing you can do to convince him to waive the cause.. only option would be to move him if one of the teams not on his list show interest.. i didnt expect too much of a return for lee at this stage in his career. if carlos is indeed traded, its most likely that his family will stay in houston and hell just finish out baseball with his new team..

its strange seeing some dodgers fans so excited to get lee, he really has nothing left in the tank..

He's got a little left in the tank. In the 3 or 4 hits the Astros got today, one of them was by Carlos Lee. Almost everyone else playing for the team didn't get a hit.

If he doesn't agree to a trade, bring up Wallace, plant him at first base and just have Lee play against tough left handers. It is more important to see if Wallace can contribute than it is to let Lee continue playing. At this point with his contract, his salary is irrelevant.

That double with two outs in the ninth in a 3-0 game was infinetly less important than the double play he hit into in a one run game yesterday.

See...I can pick out one at bat to make a point as well.

This would have been a good deal for the Astros. I hope they continue to try and move him. In the mean time I hope they also decide to start playing some of the younger guys more to see what they can do and quit wasting playing time on Lee.
