I will remember every person on here complaining. Take some Mac shots and bring them back and show how yall react. Maybe its the heat or something down here... lets chill.
What do you mean it has nothing to do with the numbers? A player's value is determined by their on court productivity at the price it costs a team. That is exactly why Paul Milsap and Lowry are largely considered to be two of the most valuable contracts in the league. Secondly, if you read my initial post, I was not saying Calderon was better than Dragic, instead that he is known commodity whereas Dragic is not. Calderon has given you consistent numbers the past five seasons. about 11pts (on about 45% shooting) and just shy of 9 assists per game. Dragic, meanwhile, has shown on one contract season, he is capabale of putting up some really great numbers. Clearly, he and is camp would like to assure everyone around them that this is who he is and should be paid for it, but unlike Calderon, you can't say that with certainty.
And Cuban talks about how that was his biggest mistake and probably cost them a couple of championships. Let's learn from their mistake. DD
But seriously, if that is his market value, you have to pay it. If that is what other teams are paying and his agent gives us a chance to match, match it. You can't lose a player of this caliber for nothing. Trade Lowry for a big and pay him. If somebody pays him $10M/yr and he walks, and then we sign Asik for $8M/yr, I'd be extremely pissed.
I am not saying he is worth $10 million, I am saying people need to stop freaking out and let the market determine his worth. And if it is $10 million, then yes, I think the Rockets should pay it. DD
I'd like to see some of you going to buy a car. Do you find the car you want, knowing you want to pay 22k, and when the dealer opens with 26k you just walk away?
While I largely agree with this, the market also determined Boozer and Amare were worth max contracts. Thanks to following the market, the Bulls and Knicks are now proud owners of arguably the two most toxic contracts in the league.
Oh, and if you guys want a star, I think you have to sign Dragic, otherwise our best trading piece in Lowry is indispensable.
I originally included him, actually. However, considering there are trade rumors involving his name, i'd say his contract is a degree lower on the toxic chart. I don't believe Boozer or Amare are tradeable.
Goran needs to establish himself in the upper echelon of PGs before he starting thinking about an 8 figure salary per year. Im not interested in how other teams value Dragic...because there are plenty of teams out there that engage in ridiculous contracts. When you have players like Rondo and Parker, two of the best PGs in the league, going for 12 million a year...no market should ever value Goran near that amount. 8 million for Goran. Anything more is unwarranted.
Well, we shall see what Morey has to pay to keep him. One thing Morey has not done is lose an asset for nothing. DD
He and his agent are just bargaining. His goal isn't 10 million a year, it's 7-8 and I think he gets it. Goran has mad potential and has proven he can run this offense. He has an unbelievable motor and production, so if it were up to me, I'd sign him long-term. I love Lowry, but a disgruntled player doesn't bode well with team chemistry and coaching. I say pay Goran and bring Brook Lopez and Marshon Brooks if we can't get Dwight.
Whatever extra value exists in Lowry's contract, it's negated by the fact he doesn't want to be here, play for our coach, and will make it public to get what he wants. No point in keeping him. This.
The Bulls would probably be relieved if they could move forward with a big man rotation of Asik/Noah/Taj instead of having to work around Boozer's contract and relatively low productivity. Secondly, the Bulls have Rose, lets not act like it was paying Boozer that got them to the playoffs. Meanwhile, the Knicks, with two max players, only managed to win two additional games than the Rockets. The knicks, will never make a championship run with Amare on that contract. Lets not make an argument for the sake of making it.
so Omer Asik averages 2ppg and 5rpg and y'all wanna throw 7-8 mill a year at him.. Dragic has actually produced in 30min a game and you don't wanna pay him?? haha.. ok then he walks and we get Disgruntled Lowry and diamon simpson… Hello #14 pick AS USUAL!
