Looking to have a sprinkler system installed. Not sure what to look for, any advice? Any one know of any reputable company? I have this one person quote me and said I would need 3 zones (I have a small yard) and that it would cost around 500 more or less for each zone. Is that about right? Also, can sprinkler systems be controlled from within the house?

Most boxes are put inside the garage, I believe, but I don't see any reason why they couldn't go in a house

I would call around for quotes. My old house was on a 7000 sq ft lot. It had 6 zones and I got a quote for around $2000-2200. I ended up doing it myself for about $1100. It was hard work though and took three days. I don't have the time or energy to do it anymore so I'd pay someone if I had to do it again.

Nice. How much did you spend if you don't mind me asking? How long have you had the sprinkler system and have you had any problems?

I figured I could do that but even with quotes I wouldn't know if I'm being ripped off as far as the quality of the product and work. I figured I could get some referrals from some members here who have good experiences with their systems on the boards. I wouldn't mind doing my own but don't know anything about sprinklers and fear that I would mess it up. Not only that, it's kind of difficult to find the time for myself to take on such a project. By the way, thanks for the advice everyone!

Its a long story but Chris fixed everything we currently have. We have pretty extensive irrigation (18 zones) and lighting (30+). He came in after another dude screwed it all up and its been working great for several years. I feel his prices are very fair as he is less than anyone else we have ever used. He is actually coming here on Monday to do a pretty thorough yard clean up that we should have had done months ago. I have just been really busy.

I live on the north side and PGS landscaping did our sprinkler system. They charge $350 a zone. They do most of the landscaping and systems for the builders in the neighborhood. I've got 7 zones in the front and 6 in the back yard.

Wow. You must have a huge yard. That sounds about right as far as cost per zone.

Alternatively, you could drastically improve your yard care and not have the need to waste thousands of gallons of water per week.
