You'd have to talk Booz; how does that balance the deal?

    1. Apparently we don't "all know Asik is nothing special." There is a reason Morey, among several other GMs, will be going after him and Chicago is threatening to match offers.

Just because your ignorant ass doesn't think he is anything special doesn't mean "we all know he's nothing special."

    2. The NBA doesn't just match starters against starters and bench players against bench players. There are plenty of mixing going on and Asik, in particular has played against opposing starters plenty (Noah only averaged 30 mpg last year).

The supposed "if he played against starters he won't be as good" theory is crap when applied to most players. For the most part, when a former bench player gets more minutes or become starters, their performance level hold up even in a different role. Examples: Ben Wallace, Zach Randolph, Marcin Gortat, Kyle Lowry (Goran Dragic, funny enough, got better when he became a starter).

    3. Signing Asik does not prevent a later move for another star player, or even another star big guy. Morey is not required to stop making trades after signing Asik. In fact, Asik himself can be one of the trade pieces.

His next contract is restricted by the Arenas rule. He can't sign for more than the MLE.

It looks like a signing bonus is the only way to outbid Chicago. Wesley Matthews got one last free agency, $9M advance up front from a full MLE deal. It's a direct hit at the owner's pockets. So it's up to Les.

According to my sources, Morey is actually in LA for the BET awards, low key.

Love Asik move, even at an overpay. If all else fails with Dwight, the Lowry/Gasol swap and a Martin/Iggy swap sets us up decently for the next three years:

    Asik / Camby
    Gasol / Montiejounas
    Iggy / Parsons
    Lee / Lamb
    Dragic / ???

Gasol/Asik compliment each other nicely. Our perimeter defense would be excellent.

Yep. Then wait until Asik is final, then we match Lee.

It's the full MLE, that's Asik max. Arenas rule.

Bulls will match, unless the Rockets throw in a signing bonus.

Yes, more or less. To be more precise, Bulls' cap hit would bit $5,000,000.00, $5,225,000.00, $10,647,921.76 and $11,127,078.24.

I live in Chicago and have seen a majority of his games.

#1 Omer plays every bit as well against starters as he does bench players, this includes elite players.
#2 Omer is an elite defender. He can guard the post as well as anyone in the NBA and effort is NEVER a problem.
#3 He is a team player and hustles non stop.
#4 He is probably the worst offensive player in the NBA. Teams got to the point that they played 4 on 5. He cannot be in at the end of the game as a result.
#5 Because he is so large and active, he gets in foul trouble and gets in foul trouble.
#6 I believe he is long term a top reserve on an elite team. His offense and style of play is best suited for 25 minutes a night.
#7 With players like Patterson, Jones, DMO needing minutes, I could see it working for the Rockets.

8 million isnt a terrible amount for a defensive center with (limited) upside

anything further would be however... just compare it to the 7ish million dalembert would have received..
