You can't sign 6 year contracts. PER is not relevant. Asik is better. End of story.

    Dragic - PG
    Lamb - SG
    Parsons - SF
    DMo - PF
    Asik - C

Now that is a young team that you can start to build around. Get a decent PG backup and White and Morris backing up the forward positions.

Really, I didn't think that Thabeet did much while he was here.

so he is elite and couldn't get the Bulls out of the first round.
At least wait till he is a Rocket to overrate him

Elite defensive and elite center are two different things.

How about a trade of Martin/Scola to the Bulls for Noah and a filler (Brewer of Korver to make the numbers work) - the Bulls can groom Asik and save some salary at the C position. Meanwhile they get that SG they desperately need and a winner and leader at PF, given them the possibility to amnesty Boozer. Thats a win win in my book - maybe we have to sweeten the deal with a pick or some young talent.

With Noah at C we can groom our young kids - Noah has some good 5 years left in him, so he can be part of our rebuilding effort.

Thats not true, signing asik wouldn't effect a bynum trade. Like its been said, if there was a deal its would be done after signings. Well lets say the deal is in place, are we not going to sign a center just in case? because if the deal ends up not happening even though its in place for whatever reason and we didn't sign a center we'd be really ****ed

    My first post. yay. :)

Anyways, I like Asik. I do not think he is like "the savior of the franchise and chalk up 50 wins because of him" but I really like him as a C to split minutes with Camby/whoever else Houston gets to back him up/play in front of.

However, I hope Houston does not over pay for him. I like that 4 year 25 mil offer that someone bounced around earlier in the sign and trade. I wouldn't mind trading Mr. Kevin "I don't play defense" Martin for Asik.

In a world with out Howard, Drummond, or Pau, Morey has lost any chance at landing a coveted superstar at the 5 or 4 spot (Maybe Josh Smith is a slim chance....) Houston needs to scoop up any good C they can because they are really hard to come by.

The word Elite just mean different things to certain people.....
defense is 50 percent of the game.... so yeah... he isn't exactly there
    I would say good defensively

And how exactly is he elite defensively? Im honestly curious.

In the 3 games he started against Hawes in the playoffs, Hawes averaged just under 14 ppg and over 10 rpg.

In the regular season, he started a game against the Bobcats and Byron Mullens scored 17 points on him in 26 minutes. Byron Mullens?

Other than a couple quality min here and there, I just have a hard time understanding the infatuation with this guy.

I understand why the Bulls want to keep him...because they have all their major pieces in place and they just need some depth. The Rockets, on the other hand, are on the opposite side of the spectrum.

Add the top 3 pick in next year's draft you are sure to get and we are golden.

Pretty sure any one would rather have Noah, I doubt Noah is available. He's like their 3rd best player, arguably their second.

    I wouldn't say a 12th ranked offense is 'fine'.

I'd be happy to get Asik. We need All-stars, which ain't him, but hopefully we'll get one for some position soon.

I seem to remember reading that Chicago might turn around and try to trade Noah to us, because it would work out better for them.

Because we have no center and he is a young guy with upside. If we are going the young route it makes perfect sense to sign a second year 25 year old player that you think can be one of the best defensive centers in the league in a few years. Who do you think we should be going after to fill the whole at C?

Signing this guy to a 4-5 year deal worth $25M + would be a HUGE mistake for our franchise..... It reeks of desperation.

Just sign Camby to a modest 2 year deal at a hometown discount and be patient. We have to be able to do better than this guy.

So you think signing a legit 7 footer who is a good defender, good rebound and block shots for 5 million a season is a bad deal? Have you seen the going rate for spare 7 footers?
