This was my prediction 2 weeks ago. I could see it. A trade of these 2 was discussed a couple years back, remember?

5.3 rebounds and a block per 15 minutes, while playing outstanding defense. those who don't think Asik's anything special will be surprised what he can do in a starting role. I really hope Morey get's this done.

Making a big push towards Bynum or Howard. I just don't see how signing Asik is anything but a lateral move. If we don't trade for a big name, we're not going anywhere. No sense in tying up cap space for someone who could possible be a fringe NBA starter.

There just aren't any FA centers that I like...and there is no rule that says we must sign one. We're in full rebuild mode if we fail to get a center through trade. Just bring Camby back if that's the case.

Because the guy says he is perfect for our team is not overrating him... Sheesh. Did he say Asik was going to show up and average 20 and 10? No. Did he say Asik was going to start making all star games? No. Did he place any expectations on Asik at all in that post? No.

Asik is a true 7 footer that rebounds well, plays really good defense and blocks shots plus he will not cost 12 million a season. The Rockets have zero defensive centers on the team and the only probablility is a 40 year old Marcus Camby.

He would certainly get a chance to grow as a player and earn minutes on the Rockets and the Rockets certainly have a need for a young defensive rebounding 7 footer that will not get pushed around by true 7 foot centers.

Of course I guess I just overrated him to.:rolleyes:

Well it's not stupid when you utilize common sense and realize we are talking about someone who can play more than 20 minutes a game twice in one week.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention--whoa, what happened with Omer's face in Carl's pic?! It looks like the blood is coming from the bottom of his chin!

rezdawg, here are his playoff numbers in 6 games (3 starts):

    21.3 minutes
    3.3 ppg
    50% FG
    4.6 RPG
    1.7 blocks per game
    1.3 APG
    1.3 turn overs per game
    2.3 fouls per game

He has to work on his free throw shooting. I think it would be great if the Rockets can get him for under $30 million for 4 years. With that salary it would be okay if he starts next year and comes off the bench later. Remember he has shown significant improvement since his first year in the NBA and he is only 25.

Lee is more valuable to this current Rockets team than Asik would be. Sure, we don't have a true center, but we have about 17 guys that are 6'9 and over. We have just a few guards on the team. Once Lowry and Martin peace out, Lee becomes much more valuable than Asik could be.

And I'm not talking about you overrating him. There have been plenty of posts about Asik being a great sign. No, it would be an average sign.

If we got Asik, then I'd be fine with getting Gasol.

    C--Asik/Camby(Hopefully)
    PF--Gasol(Maybe)

We haven't made the play-offs in three years and have earned the 14th draft pick each of those years and your thinking that we are in trouble if we sign Asik and he starts?

Maybe you've been out of town awhile.

Either way I hope that the Rockets land Asik.

Last time I checked Asik was a free agent and DM was not trying to trade Lee for him. Depending on what you want from him, what you sign him for and what he gives you will determine if he is a great sign.

We can keep Lee and sign Asik, but I'm sure if we sign Asik the Bulls would offer the most they can to snag Lee. I would be okay with this.

I'm thinking this is Morey's plan B. I'm not a Bynum fan and it seems like Howard is not gonna happen at this point. It would be a rental if we don't have the cap space to sign Williams and even then it's risky.

This move screams the Rockets will make the playoffs next year which is a step in the right direction.
