This is 100% fact for me as well: And I don't want to the President of the USA, it doesn't pay enough on average to interest me, nor do I want to deal with all the headaches. Doesn't mean I couldn't be President, I firmly believe I could, but just means I choose not to pursue it, because it doesn't interest me as much.
there's NO way Orlando would give up Howard for Gasol. Makes NO sense no matter how you want to spin it!!!
You should have done something more ridiculous than president just to highlight the lunacy of it all.
Thanks OP. I remember some of your correct predictions as well, and I believe this makes sense for all parties involved. Lakers - DH and Lowry are great returns for Gasol and Bynum, and make them instant favorite to contend. So they may send out picks. Since Orlando and Houston are not interested in Gasol at this point, Minnesota has to be a partner. Minnesota - They really need Gasol's veteran presence for playoff run or contending. They should be willing to send out Derric Williams and next year's unprotected pick. Orlando - Houston's package is attractive but not enough, so getting Derric Williams and next year's unprotected pick will be the bonus. They don't want Gasol and Bynum is on last year of his contract(he will be UNRESTRICTED agent next year) so they are afarid of him walking next year. Plus Bynum will prevent them from tanking and getting high pick next year. So they need Houston's package and Minnesota's assets. Houston - Getting Bynum should be a nice thing and we don't need to send out as much assets as in a deal for DH. I think Scola+Lowry+Lamb+fillers may do it. http://www.sbnation.com/nba/2012/6/5/3064780/andrew-bynum-contract-option-lakers "How long he's with the Lakers beyond that becomes the question. Bynum, 24, will be in the last season of a four-year, $57.2-million contract. Negotiations on an extension had not begun, though that could happen soon. If he doesn't re-sign with the Lakers, he will be an unrestricted free agent after next season. Either way, Bynum remains one of the Lakers' two tradable assets."
Hooray! Bynum will play 60 to 65 games and we will be a 7th seed! No. Its inevitable he will get hurt. Been there, done that. Howard or bust.
If they stay competitive for two years and get a buncha picks/youngsters for the future, maybe. Letting Howard and his agent dump on them for another year might be worse. But yeah, I think there's something else to this----or nothing at all. 4 team trade = easy to fall apart.
It would be stupid to give up Lamb... Would be worse than how we gave up Rudy Gay. I would rather give up either one of White or Jones.
I think he said he's not sure exactly where all those players are goin, he said he's sure that they are the main pieces though. That means pau to 4th team possible.
Assume Clutch would post if the source ID wasn't sent to him as stated. The source could be shaky, but Ron seems to be playing it straight. If he was a troll he would be saying that he knows stuff, not that it gets passed to him from someone else.
Funny, I have not heard a single thing about this on any of the "rumor" websites. Hoopshype, Hoopsworld, ESPN...
I think, at this point, Howard and Bynum are practically on the same level, especially considering the back issue Howard has had and the questions it raises. They are miles above any other center in the league. I would definitely do this trade. We need an all-star, somebody capable of building around and carrying this team. I know Bynum has had his troubles with injuries, but that seems to be in the past now. We would all prefer Howard, but if we can do this deal, without giving away all our young talent, I think we would turn out fine. What young talent would y'all prefer to part with? We have, at the moment, Patterson, Morris, Motiejunas, Leurer, and our three picks. If Martin isn't a part of this deal, where would we send him to? I presumed Minnesota wanted him as well. If we keep him all the way until the start of the season, wouldn't we be unable to sign Lee? Would something like this be feasible? Orlando Sends: Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu (LAL) Orlando Receives: Terrence Jones and Marcus Morris (HOU), Robert Sacre (LAL), Derrick Williams, Wesley Johnson, Brad Milller and Martell Webster (MIN) Houston Sends: Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola (LAL), Kevin Martin (MIN), Terrence Jones and Marcus Morris (ORL) Houston Receives: Andrew Bynum (LAL), Nikola Pekovic and Luke Ridnour (MIN) Los Angeles Lakers Sends: Robert Sacre(ORL), Andrew Bynum (HOU), and Pau Gasol (MIN) Los Angeles Lakers Receives: Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkoglu (ORL) and Kyle Lowry and Luis Scola (HOU) Minnesota Sends: Derrick Williams, Wesley Johnson, Brad Miller, Martell Webster (ORL) and Nikola Pekovic and Luke Ridnour (HOU) Minnesota Receives: Kevin Martin (HOU) and Pau Gasol (LAL) Thoughts? Not quite sure if LAL would take on Hedo's contract, but to get Howard they must. Especially with Kobe's career winding down. I'm not entirely sure what Orlando wants here. I would think Miller and Webster are expiring contracts, while they get some decent young players in Williams and Johnson, along with the potential of Terrence Jones and Marcus Morris. Minnesota becomes instantly playoff bound; may be reluctant to part with Pekovic, but to pair two Spanish stars? I think they'd do it. We receive two young centers, one an all-star and one a solid back-up So, potentially... Dragic/Ridnour Lee/Lamb Parsons/White Patterson/Motiejunas Bynum/Pekovic Could be a playoff team, especially with Lamb, White, and Motiejunas live up to the hype.
the trade rumors those sources report never pan out anyway. morey's trades always come out of left field. yeah this could be more of the usual: a) total b.s. or b) morey attempting to land a big fish and not being able to get a deal done. but it's the offseason, so f*** it. bring on the "insiders" and speculation !
It was actually reported in the media a couple days ago that LA may indeed be moving Bynum: So if the OP got good info about us being involved, I really hope it does come true. Bynum is a douche, but he is a beastly douche, and he’ll actually extend here (says he doesn’t care where he plays, every city has an ATM lol). The only thing that seems doubtful to me is what others have pointed out…Orlando wanting Pau over Bynum. Wouldn’t surprise me if the other team involved is in fact Minny taking Pau while Orlando gets Derrick Williams and other young pieces from us.
I find it hilarious that people don't believe in themselves enough - I am sure you could probably do more than you think you could if you were inclined to try. DD
