I don't see why the speculation on Martin's character matters. He's dead. Zimmerman knew nothing about him other than what he saw that night. Unless there's evidence Martin had a history of unprovoked violence it's completely irrelevant whether he was a scholar or, like the last three US presidents, used drugs. He's dead. Freaks hacking into and then logging into a dead mans facebook/twitter/yahoo. No shame. At some point, whether you think Zimmerman was acting appropriately and this is all just a huge tragic event, or you think substantially less of Zimmerman we have to realize this is much more than interweb squabbles and talking points. Martin, whatever faults he may have had was an individual with a life, a history, and people who's lives he affected. And he's dead. He's not just a symbol and talking point to be debated and manipulated to suit political rhetoric. He's an individual who has been killed. And that should deserve some respect. A 17 yo was killed. A court case will follow. Debate the merit of self defense laws, stand your ground, etc etc all you want....but the tangential personal slander on an individual who was killed at 17 should really stop.

I asked if it was confirmed to be bogus, then said I'd pull it down if it wasn't factual. I asked for the board's input. It's telling to me when the liberal crowd turns on other posters -- to me it lets me know that they have lost confidence in their initial premise, so they try to take it out on the other side. It's kind of like when your team loses an important game, and then you go running off calling the other teams' fans classless.
Martins death, while tragic is simply a continuation of the long line of black men and women murder unjustly in this country. This will continue to happen as long unless there is a radical change in peoples thought process.
it's not yet clear that the killing was unjust -- if GZ acted in self defense, then you cannot say it was unjust.
