Amazing outline on Reddit that explains "Obamacare" in a way a 5 year old could understand it. I learned quite a bit by reading this and wanted to share it: http://www.reddit.com/r/explainlike..._exactly_is_obamacare_and_what_did_it/c530lfx
no 5 year old can understand this ****, but I appreciate you posting this. I think reading this I am more open to the healthcare act because it seems to be a way of expanding public services benefits thru assured tax much in the way federal tax is used for police service, except the mandate is specific to healthcare. ..but it is tough for me to like because I hate the idea of more taxes to support something even though it is well intentioned for the greater good.
keep in mind the estimate is that only 6% or so of the population will actually be paying taxes or be forced to buy insurance solo.
YEAH. BURN THE GOVERNMENT. TRYING TO SAVE PEOPLES LIVES AND PREVENTS INSURANCE COMPANIES FROM SCREWING US OVER? FREE MARKET FTW! LET THOSE LEECHES DIE!
Once the tax reaches $695 per year will I be able to do the following: 1. 2015 - refuse to buy insurance, pay $695. 2. 2016 - refuse to buy insurance, pay $695. 3. 2017 - refuse to buy insurance, pay $695. 4. 2018 - during a routine checkup, find out I have a suspicious lump and need an MRI. Buy insurance prior to the MRI. FInd out I have cancer. Newly bought insurance covers me. 5. 2019 - Continue cancer treatment, covered under insurance. 6. 2020 - Cancer in remission, no further treatment necessary. 7. 2021 - Cancel insurance, pay $695. 8. 2022 - Pay $695 9. 2023 - During routine office visit, possible recurrence of cancer. Go buy insurance and restart treatment.
Yes, I believe so. At least it stops the people doing from at least not getting away with it entirely.
2017- heart attack; car crash; other unexpected illness. No insurance -- financial ruin. (and called a leach on clutchfans as you head to the poorhouse)...
Taking this example a step further, can I essentially buy insurance "on the way to the hospital" or while I am being treated?
Unless you're incapacitated. And the ambulance ride and treatment you receive in the meantime won't be cheap.

Sounds good in theory, but I have a feeling the insurance company will purposely put you on hold for 30minutes or at least until after the operation.
We can have Obama explain it, he's good at explaining things. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/T_AAMa_X2dM" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
