Mark my words on this. If White works on his jump shot, continues to work on his post moves he already has, and gets faster just running, he could be that guy. Not saying it WILL happen, just saying there's the potential for it IMO.

Seriously...if the kid can take care of his weight...actually really if he can try getting to about 260...he has ridiculous upside...wish him the best of luck...

Looks like an Arian Foster like player...kid with red flags...that uses art..to move and inspire him...I wish him the best as a pro athlete...

He though needs to be converted to a PF...have Parsons at the 3...Lee and Dragic in the back court...and just need that dang center(Camby cant hold down the fort that long)...

Patterson, Morris, have so much to show...this summer league...

I think between Royce and Jeremy Lamb, we have a few allstar appearances. Jeremy Lamb reminds me of Kevin Durant. Just watch him. And well this guy, he plays just like Sir Charles. Could not have had a better draft. Both players have top 5 potential in this draft. Heck, I would have taken Lamb over MKG. I think in about three years, we will have a team that is consistently 4-6 in the playoff seeding, with what we have now. We need one superstar/star player and we will be in the drivers seat.

I like white, but he's a below the rim player. At 6'8 and below the rim type player is tough to gauge. Not to mention,he was physically stronger than most guys in college. In the pros,he's not going to overpower, power fcorward. Until he can knock down shots,no one is going to double him either. I guess we will see soon enough.

Also, concern about the fact he didn't work out with the Rockets. I think, from who the Rockets drafted, it's fairly obvious they've seen him play before. First round draft picks of Jeremy Lamb of Uconn, Royce White of ISU, and Terrance Jones of Kentucky?

UConn and ISU played in the second round of the NCAA tournament, and ISU and Kentucky played in the third round. I'd say it's safe to assume the Rockets had some scouts in attendance down in Louisville for all of those games..

I think he has that potential as well. He may have gone top 10 if not for his "red flags". He seems NBA ready, and a much better player than what we got last year at 14.

He is as strong, or stronger, than a lot of guys in the NBA. Our coach played between 1995 and 2005 in the NBA, and was in the front office and a scout for 5 years after that until 2010. I trust what he says about Royce's strength vs. others in the NBA.

He won't be THE strongest, but he will be near the top. You'd be surprised with how strong he actually is.

Watch some of his highlights, specifically Iowa St's top ten of the season. Number 9
Guy has more springs than you give him credit for.

I don't know which barkley you were watching, but it wasn't the pre back injury barkley. I've seen barkley drop step and rip the screws off the rim. Barkley at 300lbs was jumping over 3ft gates. Barkley would get the rebound, push, and if no one picked him up,he would put the ball on his nae and dunk the hell out of the ball. I want someone to post a video with royce getting the ball in traffic, and flatfooted going back up and dunking the ball.

It's not just his strength, the guy has very deceptive athleticism. He doesn't look fast but then he has this little studder step and an burst of speed and then he is suddenly 5' past you and going to the basket. More than anything he knows how to use his athleticism to creat shots. I think he will spend a lot of time working out of the post because he has such advanced post moves and scores really well with both hands.

Before people think I'm bashing the pick,l want to be clear. When I watched him, I didn't see explosive even for his size. I think he's skilled and strong and that's not a problem, but I'm talking explosion. I'm talking getting a. Rebound in traffic and going right back up with it and dunking it. I didn't see white do that and at 6'8 ish,I think you need to be better athleticaly than a guy 6'10 or so. I mean, your gonna be shooting over guys like ibaka, howard, jordan, bynum, mcghee and players like that's. I'm not saying finesse or craftiness doesn't work, but in the end,its gonna make your job harder.

Yeah, for sure. We actually had a running joke of basically "Is Royce even sweating?" He was an efficient player. He got the job done and wasn't flashy except with his passing. He didn't do more work than he needed. That means if he was all alone for a dunk, he wasn't going to jump as high as he could. He jumped up to a comfortable height he knew would allow him to dunk. The #9 play does show off some of his leaping ability others aren't aware of. He takes off quite a bit too from many feet back of the basket in the middle of the paint when he dunks.

What is deceptive athleticism? Either you're a good athlete or you're not. Dirk was a good athlete and he was 7 ft. Who would you consider a deceptive athlete?

crash5179 is talking about deceptive speed. I haven't seen White enough to comment on that, but I do believe there is such a thing as deceptive speed. I would Kenny Thomas had deceptive speed for a PF.

9 & 4 he really gets off of the ground. I love the block on Anthony Davis and then how he just beat him down the court for the dunk.

He is deceptive. Trust me. I've seen every game the guy has played in. I thought he was slow the first few times I saw him and then I began to notice how quickly he could actually get around guys who were faster/smaller than him. He is a better leaper than given credit for, and does have explosiveness.

Yeah, he's not like LeBron, Jordan, Rose, etc but not many people are. For someone 6'8" and 260-270 pounds, he's quick. I agree he has to get even faster for the NBA, but he's not slow by any means

    Quick move:

Watch as he gets by the "athletic freak" Andre Drummond in the first play, and later on his fast break dunk.

At first glance he does not look that athletic but he gets by much pretty much anyone with ease even guys that you would think are smaller and much faster and quicker. He is just much more athletic than you would think from a guy of his size.
