If DM gets fired, should Les go after Larry Bird as GM ? McHale would like his old buddy as GM.

Why don't we bring in Jerry Sichting, too, so the old Celtics can all hang out in Houston?

Why? so we can draft guys like Miles Plumlee?

obviously i'm kidding. Bird is a good GM. But i'm sticking with our guy.

Bird left the Pacers because of health reasons. If he were healthy he'd have continued working for Indiana.

Daryl Morey is not in any current danger of being fired and Les Alexander is not going to sell the team anytime soon. Get over it, guys.

TC attendance next year and TV/RADIO Ratings might force him to sell.

Since becoming team president in 2003, the Pacers have had the following first round draft picks:

    2003: No Pick
    2004: David Harrison #29
    Artest Melee
    2005: Danny Granger #17
    2006: Shawne Williams #17
    2007: No Pick
    2008: Brandon Rush #13, Roy Hibbert #17
    2009: Tyler Hansbrough #13
    2010: Paul George #10
2011: Pick Traded for George Hill, awarded Executive of the Year.
    2012: Miles Plumlee #26

Bird built a team that traded blows with the Heat this year, is young and has very solid financial flexibility going forward, all without the benefit of a single high draft pick, after their best player suffered a serious injury that he never recovered from, and an unprecedented disaster that dismantled a 60 win team.

Sounds quite a bit like what Morey has done so far; why would we want to make the move again?

I think you answered your own question;; simply because the Rockets are not trading Blows with The Thunder, Spurs and Lakers..

How long did it take for Bird to get the Pacers to that level?

He'll only come if he can bring Ralph with him. They're inseparable.

Right, so the answer is to hire a guy who has basically built the same team using the same strategy? People like to pretend that the Rockets are off on an island (for better or worse) in terms of their team building strategy, but I don't really see much difference between what they're doing now and what Indiana or Denver is doing, yet somehow those teams have awesome GMs and massive upside, while the Rockets need to fire Morey...

So what you're telling me is that you're willing to wait 6 more years of picking #14 and years of mediocrity ?

I don't care if it's Bird or somebody else but DM is not delivering. The owner cannot be fired so next in line.

    Keep Morey as GM

Bring in Bird (Pay Bird BIG) to be advisor, VP of something or other just to help...and to help Morey.

Every time I see a new two star thread, I always check the votes and do the math to see if everyone gave the thread 1 star while the OP gave 5 stars. This one checks out
