I'm trying to figure out just like most of you out there why we didn't pick up a center whenever Zeller was available and seeing that we traded Dalembert away. So this is just me thinking outside the box but I think Morey already had a potential replcement in mind. So I start looking into tonights draft picks and see that both Denver and Toronto pick up Centers in the later rounds. So is there a play for either McGee or Alabi in the works, I don't know but it could mean something or not.
Ehh, doesn't really mean we have a replacement in mind. You have to remember we have gone an entire season before with a 6'6 starting center, and not much else to back him up.
Omer Asik is a RFA I believe. And so is Hibbert, but I don't think there is any chance that happens. Also, if nothing else, Marcus Camby obviously wants to be here. Either way, Zeller wasn't the best player available at either of the spots, so the Rockets didn't take him.
It's hard to wheel and deal when we acquire players whom Morey assigns value but no other GM does. When is Les going to boot him out the door? When?
I mean it would cost more but I see what you are saying. There has to be a deal for a center somehow. Hes not stupid right? lol
Zeller sucks, that's why they did not draft him; Dalembert is so overrated judging by his contract. The Rockets were not drafting strictly on need; they took the best players available. There are other ways of acquiring needs, and drafting someone with an 8'8'' standing reach to play center is not one of them.
This team has quite a bit of cap space don't they? So the salaries don't have to match. Either way, I would hate to lose Royce White.
I've no idea the intracacies of salary cap stuff, but I don't think the league would allow something like this to happen. But I could be wrong.
I see this as the likely team were they forced to pick a 2012/2013 team tonight. So they are probably the most likely keepers/trade assets. What trades would you make to balance out the roster? Kevin Martin $12,939,675 Marcus Camby $1,000,000 Luis Scola $9,408,207 Kyle Lowry $5,750,000 Courtney Lee $3,221,933 Goran Dragic $8,000,000 Patrick Patterson $2,096,760 Marcus Morris $1,959,960 Jon Brockman $1,000,000 Chandler Parsons $888,250 Jon Leuer $762,195 Jeremy Lamb $1,683,500 Royce White $1,371,200 Terrence Jones $1,237,500 Donatas Motiejūnas$1,003,800 $52,322,980
At least with White the Rockets will save on travel expenses. He will only play in home games and maybe, just maybe, the games in San Antonio, Dallas and New Orleans since they are in driving distance.
bring back the Chuckwagon!!! At this point, I admit to myself that I have no earthly idea what Morey is gonna do. I assume there are more moves to be made, but all the excitement, anticipation and disappointment are too tiring year after year. Moving forward, I'm gonna just sit back and watch it unfold. It's not like Morey is asking for my $.02 anyway.
The best deal Atlanta would probably take for Smith, would include Lowry, White and who knows what else (probably Lamb or Montejunas) for Smith and probably a few bad contracts like the last trade with Dalembert went. Camby is our best bet at a big man, we will probably wind up playing Montejunas as a backup C and pray he takes to it better then our previous projects like Jordan Hill and Joey Dorsey.
