One day my I felt something was wrong. Couldnt urinate completly. Wasn't in pain. Just didnt feel right. Went to doctor after lunch. While waiting in exam room for doctor the pain hit. Worst pain I have ever had. I doubled up in fetal position yelling for help. Two nurses came in and doctor followed. Doctor knew right away what it was. They shot me up with pain killers. Glad I was there instead of somewhere else. I passed stone later that night. That was six years ago. I have never researched prevention.
I definitely fee they are genetic. My dad gets them often, my brother has had them and I've had them. We have 3 distinctly different diets.
One night I doubled over in pain. I couldn't believe the trauma or the shock. Another 7 tweeners taken by the Rockets. #assets
I had one when I was 18 (I'm 43) and was told that since I had one so young I could probably expect to have them on an ongoing basis. So I asked my doctor the OP's question: what can I do to avoid it happening again? He said, let's wait to see if it happens again and we can talk about it then. I said, have you ever had one of these? He said, no. I said, that's why you just said that. I don't want to wait until I have a second one because the first was unbearable. He said, so many things can cause them there's no way to know. A kidney stone is a calcium build-up. I became vegetarian and ultimately vegan partly to avoid dairy and too much calcium. For a long time I quit coffee. I asked that doctor for a list of every single thing that could cause them and for a time I did none of them. Ultimately I never had a second one. I credit the vegan diet I've been on for the last 20 years. Good luck, OP. That stuff really, really hurts.
I have had three kidney stones, but way worse, one stone in my bladder. You dont even want to know how they removed that one! Avoid dairy, caffeine, spinach, beans.
I have a rare condition that causes kidney diamonds and pearls -- i'm now independently wealthy with great power in Central Texas.
Unfortunately, the "blasting" couldn't be done because the stone is too close to my pelvis. Scheduled for surgery Tuesday morning unless it miraculously passes on its own over the weekend. In the meantime, will be downing vicodine religiously every 4-6 hours until then. This stinks.
