Alex Kennedy @AlexKennedyNBA Houston tried to acquire the seventh pick from Golden State, but talks broke down. Warriors likely keeping the pick: http://www.hoopsworld.com/2012-nba-draft-diary
There's about 15 other threads this could have gone in. In fact, it's probably already been posted in 12 of them.
What else is new? Teams are gonna be playing some serious hardball right until the last minute of the draft. Wouldnt doubt seeing the Rockets make a trade sometime late tonight or tomorrow.
Alex Kennedy? C'mon guys..... This is the only source you need right now. Adrian Wojnarowski: Among teams trying to move into lottery, belief is Sacramento (5th pick) and Golden State (7th) will make trade decisions "on the clock."
People say you can't blame Morey for trying but I get the feeling he overvalues his 'assetts' way too much.
I imagine talks broke down because the Rockets want to try to get the #5 pick first. Warriors probably want at least 2 of the mid-round picks, but the Rockets are trying to use those to get the SAC pick. If the Rockets aren't able to get Sacrament's pick, then I imagine the Golden State pick will be right back on the table.
Come guys - this is drafting 101. Everyone is now sitting on these picks to see who falls to them and making an assessment at that point. I wouldn't say "talks broke down" so much as GS wants to see if someone like Thomas Robinson is falling to them. With so many rumors going around now about who is going where, I would imagine GS is taking a cautious approach to not make a decision until you know what's available so you can properly determine the value. At this point so close the draft - you don't really gain anything by dealing until the draft is live.
Seems to me that Drummond is HOU's target. Sac wants Robinson at 5. If he's not available, we'll try to trade for 5. If he IS available, then Sac taking Robinson at 5 is no skin off our back. Portland's not interested in Drummond. So the next pick to target is 7 with GS before Toronto can take Drummond at the 8 spot. I don't think Morey's targeting 2 top 10 picks. It's an either/or thing.
