Wrong about what? I'd much rather have the 8th or 9th pick than the 12th or 14th. You also underestimate how much players like Scola and Dalembert contribute to winning.

That team is a lock for a 4-6 seed for the next three years.

It's better than what we are doing now but I think it's a team that never competes for a championship. I'd rather draft young guys and do a true rebuild. Adding on pieces like Gay, Smith and Gasol are good when you already have a superstar caliber player.

Kevin Martin + 12 + Patterson for Gay

    Scola and Lowry for Gasol

16 + 18 + decent filler for Kings 5 or Warriors 7, where ever Drummond falls

    Rockets 2012:

    PG: Dragic/Llul
SG: Lee (can Gay play SG?)
    SF: Gay/Parsons
    PF: Gasol/Dmo or Leur
    C: Camby/Drummond

I'll take any draft that ends up with Drummond so I'm ok with that. However, I still don't love the idea of paying Gasol $38MM over the next 2 yrs and Gay $53MM over the next 3.

Well if they dont work out, at least they are on relatively short contracts. Imagine during Free agency when we have Gasol off the books and can spend a max contract on a star to go with our young core of Drummond, Gay, Parsons, Lee, D-Mo and Dragic

Your wrong if the rockets end up trading up to get in the top 8. If they can't make a deal with their 3 picks and players available in trade to get a player in that range AT THE VERY LEAST I will be shocked.

If you honestly think john leurer and three picks in the first round is the end all to this then you can go ahead and try to justify tanking again and again for the next 8 hours if that makes you feel better.

How am I wrong? It is going to take extra assets to move from 12 to the top 8. Those assets could be used elsewhere to get another player or to move up higher with picks 16 and 18. I don't understand how you think starting off at 8 isn't better than starting off at 12.

Alex Kennedy: The relationship between Dwight Howard and the Magic seems irreparable, which is why Howard to Houston has legs:

Frank Madden: Logically, Dwight Howard should be traded. More realistically, he'll sign a 1-year deal next summer so we can all be put through this again.

Those assets you mention would not be assets if the rockets tanked the season. Dalembert was a huge asset because of the contract that Morey signed him to. Lowry is a huge asset because he carried the team for the first half of the season. Parsons... Asset because he played well to help the team win and not lose.

It looks like the rockets will probably be able to trade up to the 5th pick in the draft and still maintain high quality value for the remaining players on the roster because many of them PLAYED WELL last season. Not bad, well.

Let's just see where they end up in about 8 hours then revist this conversation when I'm not having to type on an iPhone.

You talk as if Lowry's value skyrocketed this year when if anything it went down from what it was last year. I'm not even counting Dalembert and that is why I'm saying the 12th pick instead of the 14th pick because that is what he got us. Parsons could still have played well as a rookie on a team that didn't win as many games. We could have also sold high on guys like Scola and Martin if we traded them last year. The belief that winning more games this year has increased what people think of our players is a bit ridiculous to me. I think overall the value of our assets dropped this year.

Sources insist Houston no longer interested in trading for Pau Gasol.

Here is Broussard regurgitating news reported by Woj. At the very least, it's a little reassurance.

Pure conjecture IMO. Of course they are yawning at what we are offering now...the question is whether Morey can get those two top ten picks. And that depends on how the draft shakes out. They won't be yawning if we offer #5 and #8.

Conversation is going nowhere. I simply do not agree with the value u believe the rockets players would have had if they would have lost games on purpose and the value you seem to believe lowry had before this season when he had a much smaller sample size to work with.

Hopefully you and other pro tankers will be willing to look through a less murky looking glass after tonight if they are able to get a top 6 pick without risking the value of current players on the roster through purposefully losing games. However I'm not holding out hope.
