this is why SCOTUS remains the most respected branch of government in the United States.

it's so fundamental that is sounds ridiculous to even say it today...but can't stress enough how ridiculously genius the concept of "independent judiciary" is in a Constitutional Republic.

I don't like the law. But I'm happy it was upheld. It's better than nothing.

What's funny is if the 5-4 decision had gone the other way we'd hear all about how the court is corrupt and has failed the American people, etc. Now that it has ruled the way the left wanted it will avoid that fate from the leftists outlets. Until the next ruling...

i said several times, that the IM should be unconstitutional under the commerce clause, and if congress wanted to provide universal coverage, they should just tax everyone. congress didn't have the balls to do so, nor did Obama, but Roberts did it for them.

    schiit just got surreal.

    Man, I'm looking out now.

You're going to start like 45 threads a day instead of 35.

Damn I am so looking out.

It's going to directly compete with bumping of all of your epic fail health care predictions from the last 6 months.

Damn I am so lookinig out.

    :)

I don't recall anyone from the right on this board claiming the Supreme Court is 'corrupt'

I thought they were going to strike it down. However we still need Universal Healthcare and not this mess.

You know you can flip all of this around, right? Now right-wingers will be killing Roberts for this decision and will not avoid that fate from right-wing outlets. Until the next ruling...

Supreme Court junkies on the right should be happy that it wasn't through the Commerce Clause.

The Republicans have no one to blame but themselves for this. They had congress for years, had the senate, had a republican president and never once did they address health reform. I think too many people just didn't believe it would ever happen and they could just keep kicking the can down the road forever.

Along comes Obama with balls of steel and he does what they thought he wouldn't do. Passes a healthcare law that they hate. Had Republicans addressed health reform under Bush, or worked with Clinton to do it in the 1990s we would be in a much better, less divisive place today. Republicans should remember this lesson if they get control of the government back.
